I'm really glad most of you are reading this . During riding season I usually refresh my memory by reading this once a month . " Ride to live & Live to ride " :kamiscoot

Thinking Safety, is not just for new riders, for sure. I've been riding some sort of two-wheeled transpo' for over forty years, and just when you think it's all good, you get 'slapped upside the haid' and realize you gotta be sharp! The more I ride, the more I think...escape route, what are they gonna do? Visualize ALL THE TIME!

Thanks for the 50 ways to save your life post!
Awesome reminders for a safe ride. I took the MSF course last spring. It was very informative and I and more aware of and better prepared to deal with dangers on a 2-wheeler.
I am soooo ready for better weather to ride the scoot. Snow , ice, and single digit temps SUCK !
Tator

Need a course required for cagers for 2 wheeler awareness. :pissed:

I have it down to less than 50 so I can remember it, plus I had LiteW8 print it on Stickers so I could give to my friends. I have posted this before, but here it is for your use again:

1. Remember: You are Invisible
2. Aim High in Steering
3. Get The Big Picture
4. Keep Your Eyes Moving
5. Make Sure You Are Seen
6. Leave Yourself A Way Out!

Maybe that is too simple, but I can remember those thoughts.

Add to that list, "Just because you make direct eye contact with a cager doesn't mean he sees you," and, "Look out for seniors." Learned that the hard way when an old man in an old Cavalier about sideswiped me after I looked him right in the face. I slammed on my brakes and he ran over the median after he turned right into my lane. I figured his old ass must have been going into cardiac arrest to do something so stupid, so I pulled up to make sure he was alright, and he started cussing me out! So I told him, "Fuck you, old man!" and he started chasing me! Luckily, I was on my DR650, so leaving behind the geezer in his POS Chevy was no problem. Too bad AARP has so much money to lobby, or we wouldn't have this problem.

Hey Rockinout
You got out lucky, man. That old man was cussin you cause you scared the shit out of him. Don't fuck with them old guys though, they carry guns and will shoot you man. They just don't look for scoots or cycles. i wonder if they look much beyond the end of the hood.

I have modified the Safety List as follows:

Since you are invisible
1. Look beyond 2 seconds ( the 2 second rule for following )
2. Get the Big Picture
3. Keep Your Eyes Moving
4. Make Sure You Are Seen
5. Leave Yourself A Way Out

Thank you. It seems like 100% common sense but being a new rider to any kind of 2 wheeled toy...this is something I printed out anyway. Thanks a lot. I am glad to be a new member here.

If that was from falling off a Ruckus...I wanna know his mods lol. I know road rash is a serious thing...my buddy totaled a bike at 90 MPH when he was ran off the road by a Ford Truck, but his road rash was even less than that guys and he was in a tshirt :ucrazy:

I gotta start looking up Ruckus crashes.

Thank you for the tips! I'm a new rider (one week and counting) and some of those things honestly don't just occur to you if you don't have experience yet. Much appreciated!!
