Yosh rated at 83 db, not legal?

I just found a sticker printed under the seat on my ruckus and it says that this vehicle complies with all blahblahblah and noise complaince of 80db at 7000 rpm. Well the Yosh is i think 83db at 4300 rpm. Does that mean it is techenically illegal? I tried searching the Ca Dmv site but couldnt find it. I hate that f-n site. Anyone have any more insight?

depending on the state all aftermarket exhausts can be illegal. the mothers of the nanny-state are looking out for all of us. i this causes you to lose sleep; change your meds.

Call your local police station and ask (I'm serious). Do you have some sort of "Motor Vehicle Act"? We have one that is available via online search.

If 83db is indeed disallowed, it sounds to me that you shouldn't take the risk. By the way, if this aftermarket exhaust is rated 83db at 4300 rpm, then what is it rated at 7,000 RPM?

Loud pipes piss me off! When ever people pass my house when i am trying to sleep with a loud pipe, i feel like killing them :evil:

i got rid of mine because i was caught getting home late a few times, wound up waking everyone up :!:

if you keep it reasonable, i don't think your neighbors will call the police

heh that's what i do.
but to go along what people are saying, i leave my apartment roughly around 6am in the morning so i actually roll my ruckus down to the street before starting it to avoid waking my neighbors.

i think the yosh is in a grey area; no one has complained or look annoyed, but then again i'm also pretty courteous.

Either the DMV or Highway Patrol can test the DB rating of your bike to tell you if it legal or not. If your worried, take it off. :idea:

I dont think you'll get a 27151, but I can never understand legalese. And I hate that site too.
