I sold my ruck and grom and have a C3 and a 390 duke, so I am not on here much.
But when my name is spoken I hear it!!!!

Finish this bike already; it will never be perfect and the harder you try the worst it gets.

I still have my 50 to ride, and the Ducati too, so there's zero hurry to put this together the way I dreamed it would be. :D

Yeah- I have a Monster 696 with tons of carbon goodies and go fast parts.

I'll be selling it here in a month or two- she's a fickle Italian bitch. I want a bike I can turn the key and go. When it's running- it's a beast, but the warm up routine is just stupid.

I'm looking at a KTM duke 390, or a Yamaha TW200 for a replacement. :meh:

That's what I heard about them. If you got one around here and something goes wrong there is only one shop that can help you. The others will only change the oil... maybe the tires.

...but the Ducati shop is the only one in town with a dyno that'll tune bikes with carbs. So you eventually make your way in there anyway.

My buddy has a newer Ducati and a newer BMW, two bikes you can't really work on without specific knowledge of them. All you can do is ride them, which is cool and all, but tinkering is fun too.

Oh man... 40 some odd bolts to get to the battery... and this is a naked bike, lol! If I was really into this bike, there is a lot more I would have done to it, but... I never really fell in love with it.

That's what happens when you buy things out of spite, lol.

I'm happy with my 50. It gets me around and looks good. :D

Scored this from CCiPhantom. Gonna polish it up and add some carbon in the recesses.

Image

Should look pretty good with the hardware, and the triple tree clamp was smoothed out and will be painted the same color as the hardware.

So... to get the shapes of the recesses, I just placed a piece of paper over the piece, and pressed really hard around the edges of the holes. Labeled the tops so I didn't transpose anything, and gets me to here.

Image

I then cut the shapes out with scissors and test fit. I used a wooden skewer to make sure the edges were flush, then final trimmed.

Image

Sprayed some adhesive on the backsides of the templates and stuck them on the carbon. This is why you always save the scraps! hahah!

Image

Cut the rough shapes with a dremel and a cutting wheel, and finished with a sanding bit.

Image

Looks to fit well! Now to polish!

Image

Shiny!

Image

And because someone will look there eventually, I cut out a piece to cover the back side of the piece.

Image

Ok.... Now I go work on the Veypor mount for the other bike...but I will be doing some work on this bike tomorrow as well.
