Post subject: Rucksanne's slow build thread
PostPosted: Sat Oct 10, 2015 9:39 pm
I've had the my ruckus for some time now. Her name is Rucksanne and she's an '08 with 1375ish miles. Work and my family keep me pretty busy so this build will be taking some time but I'm in no hurry.

This is the rainy day she came home with me, drove 4.5 hours to get her but it was worth it.
Image

The previous owner had changed a few things that I had planned to do myself so it saved me some time and money. Front blinkers were moved by the headlights, and the bunny ears were ground off. The DORF and turtleneck were also installed before I got her.
Image

Next I got a dingleberry licenseplate mount and some LED plate mounts.
Image

A few months went by before I was able to change anything on Rucksy. I went with a slightly bent handle bar and a password JDM stem. I rerouted the blinker light that was next to the spedo to the BB and zip tied the spedo to the handlebar. A little on the ghetto side but that won't be the final resting place for it as I plan on changing it out eventually.

Wasn't really feeling the mirrors so I moved them to the headlight braket while I decide which ones to replace them with.

I hope to be able to add more updates soon, and with any luck Rucksanne will eventually be half as good as I plan her to look.

After a while the mirrors went back up to their original spot. I had some problems securing them in place so they went all over the place. So for safety reasons I'll keep them as they are until I get new ones.

I ordered a rucksack for all my under seat storage needs. It's made tough and so far I have no complains.

I also ordered some LED blinkers to replace the stock ones. Progress pictures will be up soon.

There's not much to it actually. As you can see its mostly a cluster of zip ties.

Battery Box flush blinkers

I couldn't have done it with out this write up. It is incredibly easy to follow along. Thank you DarthEmma. Below is the link.

viewtopic.php?f=34&t=78661

Here is what Rucksy looked like before it was all said and done.

Image

Here is what I did that's not shown on DarthEmma's link.

I started out with a stencil. The edge if the battery box traced on a paper.

Image

I placed the blinker's washer on the stencil to eye ball the placement.

Image

Once I liked the way it looked on paper I placed it on the battery box and marked it.

Image

I liked the way it looked so I drilled the holes and followed the instructions on DarthEmma's bad ass link.

Here is the finished product. You can see the reflective vest inside the open rucksack, usually use it during night riding.

And a side view of my and my daughter's scoots next to eachother.

My daughter loves it. She rides it around the garage when I'm out there tinkering.

4 hrs around here is nothing! If I'm ever in DFW I'm hoping to take the ruck and ride up there

Thanks! I'll be dressing up the BB later this week with some red washers.

Not huge but there are bigger things coming.

Planning on it. After my last purchase I will have a small monthly budget.

Battery Box dress up kit

I finally got some free time so i took care of this five minute deal. I know this isn't a huge difference but it's the little things that count. Like I said earlier I will eventually switch the bolts on the DORF to match.

Here are the before pics

Here are the after pics

I'm just glad the reds match. Now off to do some night riding :monkeyscoot

I got them as a kit from DROWsports. They were the only place I found that still had them in stock. But that was at the beginning of January. They seem to have sold out of that color. But here's the link so save you some time.
