Idk to much about you or your set up. But I ride daily. Wind or shine. If your belts worn at all it will add to the suck in wind. With the new cdi try some 4.5 weights or even 4.0. That should help get the rpms up. Just a suggestion.

I am going to do some playing around with the CVT soon...if it ever stops raining around here.

That's something we here in the NW are usually saying, but we are unseasonably hot and dry this year already.

I feel for ya. :snorkel:

Filed down wear lips on Polini and tossed the shaved drive face and newly springed clutch in. Not too concerned about exactly what happens as I am going to the regular drive face and a new belt when the new Polini shows up. So what if I chew up the belt...just wanted to see what happens. Too eager to play with this thing just to do one change at once. It's been raining for almost 3 weeks and I just had a bug to play with the scoot.

So....after this morning's update...I've really been all over with this 'tuning' mostly just fucking around lately.

I couldn't wait to drop in the blue spring clutch so I did that yesterday.

I down jetted because, even without a exhaust gas analyzer, it is smelling super rich with the warmer weather.

Also, tossed the shaved drive face in the trash. I am sure that I took off too much and the thing just chews up belts. Also causes the motor to bog. I think that taking too much off the nipple is causing both the belt to become pinched against the variator as well as constantly compress the torque spring causing a takeoff in a higher gear as well as some belt stretch.

With the new belt and unshaven drive face, tossed in slightly heavier weights. 5.0/5.5s. A 31.5g total. Up from 4.9/5.3. A 30.6g total.

New Polini belt.

I need to chill the fuck out and just run this setup for a while. Let the clutch and belt break in and see where we are. Ran pretty good today. I did a nice ~20mi run today heading northbound with increasing elevation (mostly slight uphill grade) in to a 10mph+ wind whole way. The effects of this stiffer toque spring can really be felt as I was at 36mph and above most of the way. Really unheard of before. I mean, in to the wind and going uphill. Top speeds are mostly unaffected although I'm hitting them less frequently. Average speed has come up though. And that is really what is most important to me. Hopefully the weather will be decent enough to ride in to work tomorrow. Trying to promise myself not to even think about opening up the CVT case till 9000mi. I'll toss the new Polini in at that point.

Results from today....

No matter what, I just can't seem to hit that big 5-0 ! Not even once ! 47 a lot, 48 a few times a day, 49 once or twice a day usually on a downgrade. (I don't hill bomb with an unlimited CDI.) I'd really like to be able to get a moving average closer to or at 40.

The stiffer torque spring and higher rpm shoe springs have really helped to maintain speed. I do believe that I could have gotten a higher average moving speed if I hadn't had the strong wind out of the north today. Road I was on goes up ~300ft in elevation from work to town but is the flattest open stretch of non interstate without lights around. Being right on the border of Piedmont/Tidewater area, it's all rolling hills but south and east of town they're more gradual.

Stay tuned for more....

:D

If anyone has been watching the weather lately, you know that the mid Atlantic and the north east has been crapola.

Here in central VA it has rained EVERY DAY for 23 days ! EVERY FUCKING DAY ! :snorkel: This passed Sunday the 7th has been the only day where it has been dry enough long enough to take the scoot out. And, after the promising results I was seeing, it's really a bummer. And, on top of that, taking the truck to work every day is starting to add up.

Maybe.

I'm having a mid Ruck crisis now anyway....

I really want a Grom. But I can not keep two small bikes around. Decisions. Decisions....heartburn.... :headbashing: :headbashing:
