Whassup all my TR playas!!! Here is my story:

I bought my Ruckus last year two days before my birthday 9/15/12 as a special gift to myself. See what had happened was early that Summer I saw two doods at the Valero gas station on Capitol and Cropley (shout out to North San Jose) with scooters I've never seen before.. that was "the spark". Later that night I went home and Googled "sick scooter" and the bug eyed scooter I only saw for two seconds as I crossed the intersection was staring right at me.. "holy moly, I can buy one?". You see, I had never seen one before that day so I had thought that the two that I saw were homemade. My next stop was Craigslist. I checked out two beaters, both with sketchy stories and a lot of excuses about why they didn't have the paperwork. And then I found "the one".

9/15/12
The Best gift I ever gave myself!!!
Image
What a score!! 2009 with 576mi, never dropped, completely stock, and all the paperwork for $1,350 (negotiated down from $1,500)

It was really hard for me to start taking it apart but two days later, off with the plastics! Technically my second mod because my first was a carbon fiber key protector from Battlescooter.
Image

Next was a NCY gas tank cover and Password kickstand
Image

My Dad had to get a ride in
Image

Next was a Yoshimura front control thingy (I ono, it looked cool and I liked that it was aluminum so it wasn't heavy)
Image

At this point I decided to start spending some of the funds on performance enhancing parts.. didn't take any pics because I was too excited to test ride but here is the list of parts I installed in order:
1: Battlescooter blue clutch springs (noticed better acceleration immediately)
2: Red Daytona contra spring (enhanced my acceleration and ability to hold speed)
Two weeks later
3: Daytona CDI (Performance took a dump at this point and I had no clue what to do. I asked Jason at Battlescooter for advice and he worked with me to troubleshoot. I eventually took a risk (what it felt like at the time) and bought a variator.
4: Daytona Drag Variator (instantly started to be able to reach 45 mph on flats!)
5: Daytona Kevlar belt (no noticeable performance but I didn't have a tach yet)

I dreaded this part: Installing new handlebar clamp and handlebars. I had read how the screws were soft and how a lot of people were chewing tem all up trying to get um off and then resorting to having to use a Dremel (which I didn't have). I just prayed that I would get lucky. Well I wasn't. But eventually I got them darn screws out, installed my shiny Kijima Clamp, TNT Bars, and Kijima grips.
Image

Fast forward to Kijima lowered seat frame, Daytona mini front fender, R6 Taillight, Dingleberry license plate relocate, Gunmetal plastic dip front frame, Kijima 5" mini stretch, shaved and cleaned up the stock exhaust and hit it with a fresh coat of high Temp ceramic paint, and red wheel pin stripe.

Image

Then I added a alarm because it gives me piece of mind and looks pimp when I walk away.. chirp chirp!!
Image

So this is when I get creative. When I bought the Dremel I hated it because it was money NOT going towards more cool parts. But it turned out to be one of the best things I could have done because it opened up the doors to all kinds of things including my first Ruckus invention: The Honda Emblem garage door remote button!

See where I'm going with this?

Whabbam! Can't even tell I modified anything.

Okay, gonna take a break, about half way done with this.. be back soon!

I can dig the garage door opener idea, but any smoother way to do it besides jbwelding that entire thing to your bb?

Thanks man, I'm kind of not that smart so I like to "keep it simple stupid". It works really good. It's been a year since I made that mod and it still does what I need it to.

:highfive: Yeah I'm totally lagging on finishing up this build thread. I've been working on the bike more than I've been taking pics. Riding this Friday?

Fast forward from Jan 2013 to March 2013.

After my first intial "mod itch"...

Performance: Clutch springs, contra, CDI, Kevlar belt, varitor, and lighter roller weights.

.. I decided to quit being a puss and learn how to jet, finally getting rid of the ugly (IMO) airbox. This single act sparked a chain of events I really did not see coming (even with lots of warning from fellow TR members :headbashing: ).

The next day I went to Battlescooter and bought a sweet 230mm Daytona lowering shock which gave my baby a lil stance action.
Then I was obsessed with trying to get back the 2 mph I had lost from removing the stock airbox. So I bought two sets of jets (mains and pilots), ordered the D-screw attatchment to adjust my idle mixture, and some needle shims. It took me a lot of trial and error but I stuck to some golden rules and eventually got back the 2 mph that I lost (wish I could get back the mpg's as well).

Here is what it looked like for most of the Summer:
Image

Check this out! Early this year I ordered one of those sick ass KCP Coolboxes from across the Atlantic. Per KCP's request, after I installed it I sent him pics for him to use oh his Facebook page. Anyways, fast-forward like 3 months later.. I'm at work one day looking at Ruckus stuff and I come across this:
Image
WHaaaaaHHH?!?!? That's my Ruckus on The Ruck Shop, FL web page!! I guess The Ruck Shop started to sell these things and KCP gave him my pic to use for example. Sweeeeet!!!! :banger:

Anyways, this past Summer was a blur. I was completely obsessed with my Ruckus. I bought a ton of stuff and got to know my UPS and mailman really well. Radiator cover. Hindsight CRGs. MMNTHBX front springs. CF frame cover. CF under seat storage box. Radiator cap. Gas cap cover. Polished my controls. More roller weights. Slider weights. Polini variator and belt. Wire loom.

Then in September, my Ruckus and I had our first anniversary and I got her some bling!
Image

And my plastic dip front frame job didn't last as long as I thought it was going to so I decided to paint it again. So here were my ideas for "Jessica v2.0"
Red with grey wheels and grey front frame:
Image
OR
Red with red wheels and black front frame:
Image

I decided to go with the Red with Red wheels. I think it "pops" more but still very subtle clean look. As of 11/22/2013:
Image

Well that's it for now. I got a MOJO mount waiting to be slapped on. Just waiting on a order for fresh engine/CVT bushings to come in.

Are you staying skinny on the wheel? I really like the overall look of this thing, something about it. Wonder if to could do red coolant.

:highfive: thank you for the compliment. Yeah I am going to stay skinny. Two of my friends just recently installed Mojo fatty mounts and I love the look, it's just not my style.
And funny you mention my coolant because I have also thought about using some different color coolant. The stuff I have is just the basic toxic green colored stuff. And yes! They do sell Red coolant here in the US.

I thought about getting it but I think that it's too much red in my opinion. I like the lil bit of contrast it gives me.

Thanks WORFAB and I hear ya and I feel ya! Haha. I've even actually changed that light set up because you could see the LEDs when it's off it's kickstand and I wanted it to be less blingin'.
Image

I ended up actually adding more LEDs but tucking them all away so that the LEDs only radiate light instead of glow like a Christmas tree.
Image

WORFAB, just checked out your website btw. I'm digging your custom CVT covers and I really like the two shock set up. :banger:
