Just picked up this little lady. Waiting for inspiration, because for now, it's staying as is for a bit.

1982 Honda Motra ... Looks like a miniature CAT truck

You can see where they came up with the Big Ruckus Design

It's 50cc and has 3speed High gears and 3speed Low gears for towing bears and what not.

I figure there maybe some major issues registering it for the street, since it's California.

Like I said Dem0n; If somebody can register a Motocompo in San Diego as a street legal vehicle, I'm 99% certain I can get this one registered. And as Mike mentioned it's older/classic so I have that going for me too. Plus I've had a string of incredibly good luck at the Poway DMV.

Gotta be optimistic homie!! :highfive:

Ructifier,

I think the issue is that the JAPAN bikes have a 10 digit vin, where USA bikes are 12. Check the number count on the vin.

Quote:
I'm active duty Navy coming back from Japan and would like to bring my Jap-spec GSX-R 750 back to California with me. Has anyone done this/imported a motorcycle to California? EPA says 21 years is exempt on their site, DOT - 25 years is exempt....so, I'd have to use a Registered Importer. The question would be whether or not the Jap-spec bike is safety-wise diff from the US spec bike.

Any help would be awesome!!! It would be a shame to leave this bike in Japan

Thanks!!!!

my ct70 was missing one digit I think too from the normal vin
but then its a 1970 I think that was expected

only had problem with insurance trying to add it online
over the phone was no problem

how many miles on it, may have to go to chp
you know how they want that 7500 mile thing on the odometer or something for out of state bikes

Has a little over 10,000 Kilo on it, so about 6,500. I heard the same thing for out of state bikes as far as mileage. I'm just gonna keep going on with the registration process until I hit a snag, then I'll figure it out. For now though I have the appointment, the DMV rule that states I don't need CA emissions sticker for under 50cc, and a bike which seems to meet every requirement to be registered in CA (all lights working and visible, brakes, etc etc etc).

So it's just keep fingers crossed and pretend like I've done this a million times. :wasted:
