I've been installing some things: Green text is clickable to jump to location.
1. A RonkSolid engine mount SEE Page 15 (made from parts of a Lego Mount SEE Page 4)
2. YOSHIMURA Stainless Exhaust (with O2 bung) SEE Page 4
3. Fatty rear tire SEE Page 4
4. Fatty rear fender SEE page 7 & 8
5. New front foot bar
6. Bok's Handlebars SEE Page 2 & 16
7. NCY CDI
8. JC Racing lightened flywheel
9. JC Racing hollowed high performance camshaft
10. JC Racing head porting / decking
11. PC20 carb kit (currently playing with highly modifying the stock carb SEE Page 17)
12. ATR rear shock
13. Wideband A/F gauge SEE Page 16
14. Trail Tech Vapor SEE Page 16
15. RonkSolid IceTube coolant tank SEE Page 4 & throughout
16. Daytona Drag Variator
17. Custom Kershaw assisted open key SEE Page 17
---------- Although I got the GET to a fairly consistent 50mph, here in Las Vegas the high winds would drop my speed to 35mph. I needed more power - so GY6 swap has begun!
18. Sold the rear half of my Ruck SEE Page 32
19. Started getting parts for swap SEE Page 32
20. Started custom headlight SEE Page 33
21. Started custom rear frame SEE Page 33

Most resent pics. (sorry iPhone quality)

Here is what it looked like with the GET.
Image

This is for the most part what I started with it’s a 2008 with a stock GET engine.
Image
So far the mods I have done are:
1. Relocating the speedo to the battery box ([Edit 3/8/13] Speedo removed from battery box and new battery box install due to new Vapor)
2. When I bought the Ruck the license was bolted to the exhaust and the tail light and blinkers were Mickey moused Stanley L-brackets looked like crap so I grabbed some aluminum scrap I had and built a license frame/tail light/blinker unit.
3. Changed out the stock Ruckus shock for a stock Elite 80 shock I had lying around.
4. The previous owner had cutoff the duckbill rear finder (a good thing), but the cut wasn’t straight (must have been a late night hyped up on Red Bull) and it didn’t leave enough fender to keep the rooster tail spray from giving me unwanted racing stripes down my back. So to fix this I again used some scrap aluminum and riveted it to the fender as an extension.
Image
Not sure yet where I want this build to go, I’m still getting a feel for the old girl. At 6’2” I know I want to move the seat a little further back. And like everyone else I want to GET more speed out of it. I don’t really want to go with a swap. I like the challenge and fun of squeezing out all the speed I can from this 49cc engine, plus I like to tinker.

As you can see from the chalk on the ground in the picture I have children (three of them) and a long honey-do list, so I have to sneak in mod time with the Ruck. Not to mention I have to work within a tight budget. That being said this will be a slow build.

Best bang for your buck mods are a variator and cdi. Exhaust is for looks, unless you get the mnnthbox exhaust. Have fun with it. 49cc is a blast to ride!

Thanks for the tips, these are all on my list to pickup. The variator will most likely be my first big purchase.

I also shaved the drive face the oldfart55 way. How To - Stock variator modifications
oldfart55 wrote:

I figured a way to do this without a lathe, I removed the drive face and variator, left the variator back plate and drive boss in place, and then put the drive face on the shaft REVERSED and tightened it down. You may need to use some washers as temporary spacers, to keep your splines safe when you tighten it down. ...
Before this mod my max speed was 41mph (downhill or flat) cruise speed flat 38-39mph. Since this mod I can now hit 42-44mph on calm straights (but average is still 38-39mph) and I even hit my high at 49.2 (down a real steep hill).
 This is my first performance mod.

I've been at it again.
I replaced the air filter with the Briggs & Stratton one (not for performance it was just time).
I also modded the stock exhaust using the  Chanito's stock muffler modification
Before pictures:
Image
Image
Chanito wrote:
First you need to remove the stock tip by using a 1 inch holesaw and drill it out, this will allow later to fit a bigger tip and gain acces to the wall separating the middle chamber and the back chamber, then use a 1/8 drill bit and drill 4 holes in that wall, you want this holes low as it will be cooler gases there than on the top, so if you can dril them at the same height of the tip hole great, this wall is heavy gauge steel so be patient, once the four holes are drilled just weld a 2 inch piece of 1 inch pipe (the one they use for electric wiring is great and cheap). make sure half of it is inside the rear chamber and presto a higher flowing stock muffler
I drilled 2- 1/2inch holes and 1- 1/4inch hole in the back wall, Chanito says to drill 4- 1/8inch holes. OOPS :headbashing:
Image
And now the finished mod:
Image
Image
Oh ya, I shaved off the ugly bracket.
With this mod I haven't noticed any improvement in performance (didn't really expect any), but wow the sound is much improved over stock. :banger: Can't wait to get a real exhaust.

Here's what I did this past weekend:
I got "Trail Tech TTO Tach/Hour Meter 72-A00" on Friday:
Image
So, where do I mount this little tach? That is one boring handlebar clamp, I think I'll mount it there.

And this is the outcome:
Image
[edit 10/08/2012] These bars have been replaced with Bok bars.

OK, got the extension installed. Took about 2 hours to do alone, friends offered to help, put I wanted to see if I could do it myself. A Lot of the 2 hours was spent modifying the stock air box to allow the Elite 80 shock to clear.
Image

[edit 9/14/2012] This extension has been sold to make way for a Lego Mount (Lego mount replaced w/home made mount pg.15) w/fatty.

Done some work since my last update:
1. Made a coolant reservoir
2. Relocated the PCV valve
3. Installed an advanced PCV filter:
Image[edit 9/14/2012] This really worked to keep the crap out of the carb, but I had to empty it way to often. So now the green in me is gone and this vents straight out a hose by the back tire. (plus this mod was ugly)
4. started testing paint colors (as you can see in the pictures below)
5. Powder coated the headlight bracket a flat black
6. Did some work on my forks.
Here is the forks disassembled. I have added some springs in an attempt to lessen the affect when the forks bottom out.
Image
Image
Here is the MOD finished:
Image[edit 9/14/2012] This mod raised the Ruck I want it lower - this mod soon to be changed out.
7. Also lowered the front finder in the processes of this MOD.

Already pulling her apart I see. Yea I told myself I'll do maybe one or 2 mods. Got the sickness and a month later I was doing a complete swap.

The nice thing is with the Ruck once you do take the Ruck apart and put it back together, every time after the first, it's real easy.
