Teks, what's the best way to remove all the parts to get the frame apart? I've never done that. Like, what's the sequence?

Lefty-loosey

If it's just the rear frame you are wanting to remove and replace it should be quite easy for you. Start with taking the seat frame off and unplugging the wires for the tail light blinker assembly that I assume is attached to your seat. Next I'd unplug any other wires going back to your engine and your gas line and tuck them safely out of the way. Remove the rear brake cable and throttle cable at the engine. Again I'm making the assumption that you are also replacing the strech kit. If so then next step would probably be drop the exhaust, remove the carb, remove the rear shock, and drop the engine from the strech.

Now you should have a bare rear frame except for the strech still attached. If so now take off that pretty gas tank cover and you should see the 4 bolts that attach the rear frame to the front. Pull those out and..... tada you now have half a ruck. lol

Hope that helps. And I'm probably forgetting a few little details. I usually just do things, I don't really have to think of it in terms of a specific order. I think that comes as second nature from many years of practice fixing big ass machines. lol.

well, that i get.

I want to pull off the front frame as well and get it all powder coated. So this is taking the ruck _all_ apart, which is new to me. While I'm in there I'll put on the mnnthbx triple.

I figure get the engine off, take get the back portion down to just the frame and prop it up. Then take the parts off the front portion (tank, battery box, the harness). Then I'll take the triple off but I'll leave the forks attached to the wheel.

I guess I gotta disconnect the front brake line to get that all off and then re-install it and bleed the line.

I'm going to need to go buy some more 2x4s. :)

Debating if I should drill the holes in the front frame for a wire tuck. Why not? I'm doing everything else... :banger:

Yeah man. That sounds right. You don't have as much electrical crap up front as the GET does, so it shouldn't be too tough for you. The triple tree is super easy especially if you are getting the mnnthbx one with the shaft already pressed in. That's the next big ticket item on my mod list. Just have to wait until after vacation in Aug.

We are doing a "no drill" wire tuck on the ruck I'm currently working on. I think it's going to look pretty clean..... when it's done. lol

Had a little more free time today. So so so so many wires to clean up. But it will all be worth it when it's all back together. I only do solder and heat shrink then cover it all up with pretty wire loom. No crimps or side splices here.

Not the best pics. But damn it I was tired. lol. I work 3rd shift and didn't get to bed until about 3:00pm and had to get back up at 8:00pm for work. And I'm on day 6 of 18 before I get a day off. So unfortunately this is going slower than planned.

I'm debating a wire tuck. I do think I'm going to make the wideband a permanent fixture and mount the gauge "somewhere".

Question though... for the composimo mount, did you have to shave anything off the frame to get that to go on? I know with the ATR there is a little nub you have to cut off, wondering if the same was true for the composimo.

Also, are there any portions of the frame you have to keep? With the ATR you had to keep one part because that's where the shock mounted to.

The rest is all getting cut off.

Got a little more done today. Front controls are all wired in and cleaned up pretty nicely. Just waiting on a banjo bolt for the front brake line, and the correct length throttle cable to arrive. Then we will be able to tuck those cables, throw on the gas tank, and the few pieces of plastic and take her for her first ride as a new woman! While we wait for those parts to arrive I'll probably get his vapor installed.

Still waiting on the correct length throttle cable and the banjo bolt for the front disc brakes, but that didn't keep me from getting a few more things done. :)

I wanted to be sure that all the wiring was correct after I chopped it all up and extended nearly every wire to make the wire tuck as clean as possible. So I decided to stop torturing my friend with these pics of his ride and let him come over and be the first one to turn the key and start her up. :)

Nailed it on the first try. I'm worried that this build is going too smoothly. :dubious:

Love following these builds!

On the black get I'm also finishing my tuck and went with a 91 rear brake and 85 throttle, what size did you guys decide!
