I've got a 2003 Ruckus that I got in October. I recently started doing some customization so I figured I'd start a thread here.

Start:
Image

4/25:
Image

9/21:
Image

Aftermarket headlights, not sure where they came from, as they were installed by the previous owner. You can't really tell from the pictures, but they shine yellow.

Image

Image

Under seat storage bin from The Ruck Shop. Much needed storage space on the ruckus, easy as pie to install, just pop your seat up and drop it in.

Image

Yoshimura Exhaust from The Ruck Shop.

Image

Otto Plate Mount from The Ruck Shop. Actually made for the GY6 CVT, but it will fit the GET CVT as well, only with one bolt though. It will stay on pretty tight though, haven't had any problems with it loosening at all.

Image

Image

Anklebiter CVT Cover and Polini Variator currently running 6.9g polini weights. I'm going to adjust it to around 6 or 6.5, as I'm having some trouble uphill.

Image

Peg Legs and M-Lite Foot Pegs from MNNTHBX. Very solid, would definitely recommend them.

Image

Image

NCY Gas Tank Cover and Composimo Keyless Gas Cap. I didn't realize the NCY cover was made of ABS when I ordered it, not really a fan, as it's very brittle. I ended up getting a raw stainless steel one from The Ruck Shop that I'm going to paint as soon as I have a chance to stop by the store.

Image

Image

I also have a Turtlehead LED taillight and Vapor Speedometer I'll be getting wired up this weekend. I'm clueless when it comes to wiring, so I'm getting some help with that.

I'll post more pictures later this weekend.

Aye Aye, Captain. I'll get that bracket shaved off tomorrow.

Finally got the turtlehead and vapor installed.
Turtlehead caused me a huge headache, the first one I got had a faulty wire, and had to send it back.
Shout out the the Ruck Shop though, the manufacturer wouldn't warranty it, but they replaced it anyway.
Then the running light wouldn't work and my headlights went out too.
Found out they share a fuse, which of course I'd blown. Replaced the fuse, finished wiring it up and wah lah.

And the vapor

I also got a side intake and a new air filter.
Believe it or not, I actually gained 1-2mph on flats after switching to this from an on carb setup. Also rejetted the carb to an 80mm jet.

Image

In the process of installing the turtlehead, I also found out that the for some reason, the previous owner
of my ruck put a leather cover over a perfectly good stock seat. So now I have a seat cover in beautiful condition. :banger:

She's coming together...

Got the taillight bracket shaved off, as well as the horn bracket and reflector brackets.
I'm going to get new signals from MNNTHBX and relocate them to the lower holes down by the headlights.
I also got a TRS Radiator Cover.

Currently planning my GY6 Swap, so the only other thing I'm going to be doing for a while
is the front signals and probably getting a Dorf seat frame in the near future.

Just thought I'd post my current build list for my GY6 Swap.

Pre-Swap:

LED Signlas from MNNTHBX ~$54 (with flasher)
DORF Seat Frame - $190

Total: $244

Swap:
150cc GY6 Long Case Engine -$450
ATR Harness - $175
24mm Carb - $45
Uni Filter Clamp On Air Filter - $18
Yoshimura v2 GY6 Exhaust - $430
Mojo GY6 Bolt on Skinny Mount - $325

Total: $1443

Also getting a used set of wheels from a TR member.

Had to adjust the shim on the intake valve after it stopped running a few weeks back.

Instead of the Dorf seat frame, I ended up ordering the Chimera seat frame from Steady Garage.
I love the seat, it's super low, and keeps the functionality of the helmet lock and seat latch.
Another big plus, it's less than half the cost of the Dorf seat frame ($110).
Got it in gloss black, perfectly matches the rest of the frame.
I do have to do a little bit of dremel work on the rear floorboard before it will fit with the Chimera frame.

Image

Image

Image

Also picked up a set of wheels from Minkus here on TR for my GY6 Swap.
I'm going to get the lips repainted dark red to go with my color scheme.

Image

Should have everything I need for my swap in about a month.

Got the GY6 swap done. I ended up having someone else do it for me, as I'm no mechanic and I'd rather pay for labor than fuck everything up and have a ruck that doesn't work. Anyway, I'll be doing almost everything myself from here on out.

It's on jackstands right now because the kickstand I got is too short. Going to try to fit it again after I get new forks and see if anything changes.

Image

Image

Image

I wrapped the header because it's right behind my leg and already burned myself on it a few times :meh:

Image

24mm carb, mikuni fuel pump, clamp on uni filter, manifold riser & clocking flange, 11 coil stator, NCY shock, Danmaxx harness, and Yoshimura RS-9 with custom header from the Ruck Shop. The exhaust was made for a fatty tire and sticks out way more than I anticipated, so I'll be replacing that eventually.

Image

Also found a neat spot for my transmission leak line!

Only issues I'm having as of now are that it doesn't idle when I start it up unless I give it gas for 2-3 mins. Also, I'm getting backfire when decelerating, even if I let off the throttle very gradually. Not sure exactly what to try to fix them, air/fuel mix, re-jetting, maybe even valve shims? Any ideas on that would be much appreciated.

Image

Also got LED front signals and shaved off some the excess brackets.

My headlights are pieces of crap and for some reason only one of them works now, so I'm going to get an LED headlight, which should be here tomorrow or Friday. I also ordered a frame splitter from The Ruck Shop to cover up the fuel pump and lines a bit.

I have the matching custom front wheel, but it needs a disc brake setup, so as soon as I have the money, I'm getting that and new forks. Once I have I'll that set up, I'll be taking everything apart to get it powdercoated.

My GET scares the crap out of me at times with dual drum brakes. Be careful with that gy6 power and drums!

Thank you! I already ordered the LED headlight, but I do like the classic look of the stock headlights, so I might end up doing that.

Already planned on getting the cvt cover powder coated when I get the frame and battery box done.

And yeah as soon as I get disc brakes, I'm getting the front wheel on there.

I'll post a rear view when I get home.

That sounds like fun! I can't fit shit in my little Dodge Dart, but provided I can find a ride, I'm there!

Yeah, it's kind of terrifying actually. I'm just trying to keep a lot of distance between cars and myself and take it easy a bit until I get the front brake switched to disc. Here's hoping I don't wreck it before I get it done! :bomb:

Yes, please get a front disc setup. Maybe adjusting the rear shock may help with you kickstand issue.

What did you do with all the old GET stuff?

Might be as simple as just adjusting the idle screw to turn up the idle just a bit. Try a quarter turn to start. Also does the carb have a plug on it with a couple wires? That's the auto choke and if functioning properly should help warm up the bike similar to you giving it gas for a couple minutes
