Probably about time to start a member ride thread

Got the ruck back in April 2010-
2004 with ~1,500 miles on it
Pretty much stock except a little welding here and there
I really had no idea about the Ruckus other than I wanted one :banger:

Image

My other ride, Audi A4 2.8 quattro, 5 sp manual, 185k miles and still tearing it up
Loved that thing, but sold it under great pressure from the lady

Anyways, rode the ruck stock the whole year (2010), didn't realize that these things were supposed to go faster than 36 mph until I went on an end of season ride with 20+ others and I was bringing up the rear!

That winter/spring, got an '08 ecu, '08 carb, polini var, polini belt, 6g dr pulley sliders. Special thanks to beanzie and fooque for pointing me in the right direction and for popping my wrenching cherry.

anyways, that did the trick for the time being, but as everyone knows, it never ends...

Mods to date:
'08 ECU with Kitaco CDI
'08 Carb
Zero RS Variator, Dr Pulley 6g sliders
White contra spring, blue clutch springs
Polini Belt
Chopped Two Bros Exhaust
Airbox Delete with Kijima Blingshield
PWJDM Rising Sun Rad Cover
Turtlehead
Gojin Front LEDs
Frame brace with pegs and gas tank cover
Batman LP Relocator
10x5 mini fatty with Kenda K413 130-90-10
Ground fx
Grips
Daytona Shock
Horn relocation
Sissy Bar
DIY No Weld Lowered Seat Frame
ATR Extension
MNNTHBX Lazy Eye
PWJDM Coolant Res

Sorry, no way I could leave this thing stock once I joined TR...
Two things I had to have were the frame brace with pegs and a yosh exhaust
Image
So got the yosh on there and there was some bog. I couldn't tighten the airbox all the way or else it would choke, so next mod was the intake removal to get some more air in there. I followed bucksters method with the use of the vacuum T here:
http://totalruckus.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=46112&start=15
and this is how it came out
Image
I am pretty useless when it comes to wrenching, and this was a fun little project. I also had to re-jet, also a learning experience. Currently running 38/78, would like a carb shim and maybe move up to 38/80.

Also got a kitaco cdi in there, also took me like 3 or 4 hours to install....and I even forgot to plug in the power, so was hitting the rev limiter for months and couldn't figure out why until beanzie came over to take a look and plugged it in. :headbashing:

Yeah, the sissy bar was a bonus, one of two of the first owner's welding jobs...

this was for his dog. I don't have a dog, but I took it anyway.

Ok, back to the mods:

So my accel has been great since the rejet and install of the white pulley and blue clutch springs. I am definitely missing some top end, so I'm planning on picking up some heavier sliders to throw into the mix.

Also, I have a slight hesitation off the line which I didn't have before. Maybe needle shim, air/fuel or idle???
I did trim up the plastic storage area, but I never put it on since I feel like I might always need to rejet or adjust the carb for some reason. Once it's dialed in the way I like it, I have a yellow carbon fiber luggage pan waiting to get screwed on.

Some other mods on there:
Carbon fiber keyguard sticker
PWJDM Rad Cover
New grips (sliced my hand removing the stockers)
Cupholder
Skull caps
Image

...and of course...

So winter is coming, and that means time to garage the ruck.
I'm collecting parts here and there, so the ruck won't feel too neglected over the next few months.

What I want to do before the next riding season:

Clean up the front and rear lights, shave them parts and throw in some LEDs
DIY Lower Seat Frame
Daytona shock
Clean up the wiring, get the ATR luggage pan in
Maybe relocate speedo into BB
Give my ruck a good cleaning and paint touch up in the spring

Would also like some new mirrors, PWJDM coolant tank, license plate swingarm relocator and kickstarter

Not going for anything too tricked out, but would like to clean it up a bit

A few changes this past week or so, nothing too drastic

Pirelli rear 130-90-10
Batman LP mount
Turtlehead
Image
still need to shave that rear tab

Gojin Front LEDs, relocated horn, shaved the bunny ears
Went through 3 dremel bits
Image

Got the flasher issue-all 4 blinker lights stay lit
I unplugged the blinker indicator, and now the blinkers will go on, so I have to toggle to make them blink for now

Got a mini fatty - total impulse, but no buyers remorse here!
Rides great
Image
Pirelli rear now goes to Hellga

Rejetted to 40-78 due to the colder weather moving in, running much better off the line now.
Got the daytona shock in yesterday (no pics yet), much better than stock.

Also got the load equalizer since I'm running LEDs up front and back-
totally perplexed by the instructions. I thought it would be 10-15 minutes, but I have no idea what plugs into what.
Going to require a little more research before I dig in.

After Thanksgiving, I am probably going to have to garage my ruck for the winter. But I'll still be working on cleaing up the ruck, like shaving that rear tab, chopping the seat, repainting the front and rear frame, maybe getting an extension.

Lovin' the mini fatty :banger:
Got any pics of how the side car is mounted? That's one of the best ones I've seen so far!

No up close pics as of now, but the sidecar has a long pipe that runs through that big tube welded directly below the frame. That has a huge nut that screws in on the other side. The sidecar also has an arm that swings up and bolts into the two holes on my rear frame just to the left of the coolant reservoir.

It's also wired for brake lights, plus has a chain and carabiner inside the sidecar to keep a dog fastened.

Did the DIY no weld lower seat frame mod-
I didn't want to go too low, but when it was all done, I don't think I went low enough.
But I can't go back for the time being because I destroyed my vice, which was free at the time but I don't have a vice anymore.
Tomorrow I will finish drilling with the two holes up front.
also pictured: daytona shock, chopped tail light bracket
