I'm an industrial designer by trade, been doing custom cars for many years now as a hobby, mainly vintage VWs. Love the Ruckus scene, many great customs. But I wanted a challenge, so I decided to buy a Yamaha C3 and customize it. We barely have any aftermarket body mods, so let's see how far I can take the C3 (+ on a budget)....

Latest picture (always updated):
Image

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Engine mods
speedo reading: stock = 48kph/30mph current = 70+kpm/44mph (needle all the way buried), will use a GPS soon for reliable numbers
-Dr Pulley 4g sliders
-Prodigy variator + removed washer
-de-restricted air filter
-costs: $70

Tail lights
removed all that US-spec branch lights, making it Japan spec rear
-moved turn signals inside tail lights
-rear fender trimmed
-(soon) license plate and plate light relocated
-costs: $0.00

Body mods
-all decal/stickers removed (except for Yamaha logos)
-faux extended wheebase + body drop
-relocated body forward 3.5" and lower 2"
-storage space is virtually untouched
-(temporary pin stripes until future paint job)
-costs: $0.00

I have new handle bars, grips, and mirrors in the mail. Body mods just started, will be lowered 4"' more, forks raked and shortened. Possibly extend wheelbase a few inches as well. Fork towers shaved/removed (they're just non-functional plastic covers), custom headlights...and lot of other stuff...

Interior picture of holes needed for clearance for the body drop, d circles are new body mount locations (holes are currently covered)

Very creative with the body drop mod. I'm looking forward to see what else you come up with.

New low-rise handlebars and low profile mirrors, cleaned up the height pretty well. Also just added new paint (Montana spray paint). A lot more progress still to come...

Good start but lets see some more. Not much has been done with the C3 so its a good change of scenery.

Thanks for the comments! No real major mods since last update. Mainly cleaned up the rear (taillights Japan spec, removed rear fender, etc), accent colors added, and larger tires (Pirelli SL26 130/90/10)

To do soon: replace front signals, headlight mod
To do eventually: stretched frame, exhaust

Looking good. I've always liked the C3 style, but no one's even attempted to go there. Hats off and "big ups" on the Montana paint!!! I always wanted to know what it looked like on something other then a wall! LOL!

I saw one of these in town today and was thinking what an awesome scooter it would be to modify. I've only seen a few pictures of modified C3's (both from Japan I believe) but those were bitchin'. Keep it up. I can't wait to see the finished product on down the road.

Yeah, I've always thought the C3 would be a cool platform to modify. Keep up the good work! :highfive:
