Good stuff. Sounds like this thing has some potential.

I couldn't be more curious about how this works out for you. I've thought that the 20mm carb would make more power. Everything I've read/heard seems to say they don't work so good or are super finicky.

Stock Head does not Flow enough to take advantage of the 20mm carb.

Ported and polished Stock carb and Manifold will be more than enough for 99% of people out there. PC20 can be used but if your looking for crazy performance gains, its not going to happen.

I got rid of my off idle bogging simply but having my engine idle in the 3500rpm range. lol Blip throttle and it just rockets off the line.

OF, cool filter on carb, Just careful with fuel soaking the filter. at WOT a fine mist will come out of the bell of the carb. Why i always run a runner.

Thanks, Con, I'll keep an eye on that. As usual, about the time I started to get somewhere, the weather turned to shit. We went from a few days in the 60s/70s back to snow in the forecast. :pissed:

This is purely in the nature of an experiment for me, I'm not committed to making this carb work. If the pros don't outweigh the cons, or if it's too finicky, I'll just swap back to the old tried-and-true.

FWIW, the head has been P&P'ed (by me, so it could be a little :dubious: ) and milled .010". Compression ratio roughly 12.6:1. So that might make a difference. :meh:

One of the original performance mods from a century ago (well, almost). Found a local machine shop that did it for, iirc, $40. The head was too small to fit any of the clamps on the machine, he had to build a wooden frame around it to have something to clamp to. No extra charge, he said he likes a challenge.

OF. Here's an old post with flows. My PC20 runs great.

FYI Graph. I gathered some info from the net on Mikuni Carbs and their flows. May parallel the PC20's. Blue line is the info from the web and the red an extrapolation.

20mm carb should flow ~ 20 cfm which matches the intake valve flow.

Guilty as charged. I can remember one day trying to place leap flogger across an intersection and I snapped too quick and it bogged. Thought I was going to GET smashed. I like simple. But no doubt performance was better with the pc20.

Is this testing the carb only or carb+head?

I got the data for the graph from various source on the net. I'll look for the original source of the valve data but i remember it being flow test results on ported/non-ported ruckus head.

Kramer is awesome. Seems pretty pleased with your work!

As it happens I've never seen your bike as I didn't see your build thread before the pics went down. Little late to the party. I like your seat frame cage.

Mid-80s today! and only 10mph winds. That's about as close to dead calm as we get. Took my second long ride with the PZ20. Pretty much the same conclusions. If I snap the throttle as hard as I can from an idle, I can MAKE it bog, but if I take off like usual with a roll of the wrist (I'm talking 1/2 a second, one-missi-), there's no problem. I can go to WOT from 10, 20, 30mph, etc., with no bog at all. Speeds were a little higher on my test roads, and seems to hold speed better on hills and against the wind. No big dramatic change, feels like I gained 1/16 H.P., maybe even an 1/8! I hit 50 today, on the same stretch of road where I'd hit 50 before. Difference is, this time was GPS'ed, and the other times were stock speedo, so actually probably more like 46-47.

So, as of now, I plan to leave it on. Unless it starts getting finicky about temp and humidity or something like that.

Mid 80s?
I hate you right now.

Spring in Oregon means 50s and rains until 4th of July. Then boom! It's 100 the next day. :pissed:

We get all four seasons in one week, it's a roller-coaster. 50s and thunderstorms today, 40s tomorrow, I won't be surprised if we get another freeze. Then 3-4 months of monsoon, then 100's in July and August.
