Thank you all! So far, 61 feels about the same as 60. One year closer to Social Security, if there's anything left by then!

It's been a crazy winter so far. Was 65 on Christmas day, right now it's 5º ƒ with about 4" of snow on the ground. Next Tues, Wed, and Thurs, highs in the mid-50s but rainy. It's a rollercoaster.

Because independent, unverified research conducted at unaccredited, third-world testing facilities have shown a 38% chance of a 62% probability that pretty, shiny things perform up to 12% more efficiently than dull, boring things.

Not sure if I'll have clearance length-wise, I can angle it up more if needed. Just playing anyway...

Yeah, it tapers from 3" dia to 1-1/2" over a length of about 1-1/2". Little bit of a v-stack effect, maybe?

Been getting the occasional nice day, so I stuck the pz20 on for a tryout. Plenty of clearance for my mini-V-stack (my fender's already notched out anyway) Was surprised how easily it started the first time. The idle wanted to stay really high, but that turned out to be a self-induced flaw in the cable. I didn't want to re-route a new cable when I wasn't sure I was going to stick with the carb, so I hillbilly-engineered an adaptor cable. :dubious: :ucrazy: Got that fixed, and it idles nice and smooth, revs up nicely, and drops right back to idle. I get an rpm drop both directions on the a/f screw, so that makes me think my slow jet is within proper range. If I hammer it from an idle, it dies, but I expect that from a slide carb. If I give it even a half-second roll instead of a sudden jerk, there's no bog.

This is based on garage-testing with no load, it was wet and chilly. But so far I'm hopeful, just need another warm, dry day. And if, after all is said and done, I put my GET carb back on, at least I'll know I tried!

Haven't even messed with the needle clip position yet, but it sounds like everything is at least in the ball park. Maybe. :meh:

I never heard the polini but miss the sound of the slide carb.
good luck with that carb. definitely give some extra power compared to the stocker. I just can't stand a bog.

Sounds good. Man, I'm excited for you to try that out.
Been curious what a 20mm carb would do for a GET. :banger:

Thanks Andy! I'm anxious too. Looks like maybe a warmer day next week, but a strong chance of rain. Typical Missouri, was 84 a few days ago, today it's 34. :headbashing:

That old Polini exhaust is a survivor, the baffle is held together with mechanic's wire and a hose clamp, the can is held on with self-tapping screws, and it's been painted half-a-dozen times. Still like it, though. Performs much better than my pretty stainless WirusWin with the huge header pipe. For me, at least, performance > aesthetics.

Still waiting for the weather to cooperate so I can test this carb. Maybe I'm too picky. Like today, it's 73 degrees at noon, but the wind is 30+mph. That's not gusts, that's constant speed. So, I could probably hit 30 with a headwind and 50 with a tailwind. Wouldn't tell me much. :meh: Even my Shadow is a bit of a handful with a 30mph crosswind, and it's 300# heavier than the ruck.

Oh well, won't be long until it's 90 degrees and I'm praying for a breeze. (JK, I don't pray).
