HELP!!

So i have cleaned carb, jetted it to 82/38. no cdi, new KN variator and new DR.Pulley sliders mix 6/5.5. when i go WOT and hit around 25-30 and 7k +/- 300 RPMs it starts sputtering/cutting out and wont go any faster. Any idea? I have a 5-6inch sink pipe intake with KN filter, exhaust is a header with a washer in the middle for back pressure (like AK Garages old one). I'm going to clean AGAIN the carb and try my 85MJ. It starts and idles great!

only tried an 80 and it did the same. My old ruckus had same set up except the pipe was a Big Gun and the filter was a UNI it was dialed in great with 85/38.

I also "reset" the ecu.

It could need it. Or even an 88. Or lower. Those long intakes usually require larger jetting.

Didn't have time to mess with jets. But could a dirty or bad stator/flywheel or a bad coil cause the issue? It's like hitting a Rev limiter but I'm not even close to the rpms for that.

Well time to try the 78mj. So far 85 was worse, with topspeed of 20-25. 80mj was 30 almost 35mph. 82mj was 25-30

well the 78 doesnt cut out at topspeeds i do have a lil sputter at take off. I hit 35 at 8120 rpm. I have some lighter weights coming. Hopefully i can get this thing dialed in.

Sputter at take off or lower acceleration, is your exhaust, too restrictive, I just went through this. Now I'm running a new BR exhaust, it solved my sputter I'm at

9120RPM 49.2 Mph

40/75 jets,
100/90 rear tire
rubber hose intake (4-5 inch) w uni filter
BR exhaust ($79)w BS muffler
NR magic Vari w 5.5 Dr puller sliders.

I'm starting to think that. But I don't see how it could be more than the oem pipe would be. With 5gr weights I can hit like 38 at 8300ish RPM. And it struggles. But 0-30 is quick. I'm going to try an oem exhaust, with 78/38 jets and see if it worse or better. May try removing the flapper and seeing how it runs before that. May even try 75/38 jets.

Yep 75/38 should do it! See mine is close to that set up, and at 50mph... and at that speed I'm hitting the factory limiter at 9120. Definitely try the stock exhaust, or even better just buy the BR one! the tube has way more flow. I think it would look fine with your build, and is only like $79 Mine sputtered with those jets & the stock exhaust..
here's stock and BR Comparison

btw you painted the old side skirts you got from me, they look good! :)

Ok. You've proven my point.

But from now please stop spreading this false information. You dont hit the rev limiter at 9120. I'm starting to think you dont understand what it actually is.
