Well I am home alone, have been drinking and decided I needed a proper build thread.

To be honest I have been putting off the build thread for a few weeks now because I recently moved am just now getting to the point in the garage where I think I can tear something down and put it back together again.

So enough yammering...
Here is what I am staring with.
04 Metro with about 2300 abused miles on it.

So far I haven't done anything except clean the carb put some new jets in it, install one of the infamous Scooter Ninja Variators and some Polini rollers and spray bomb a couple of parts.

So my goal with this build other than making it look good is to also make it brake better, handle better, go faster and GET (lemme just get the requisite capitol g.e.t. out of the way now) faster quicker.

So I did manage to buy a few parts in my down time.
You know about the variator but here's a pic anyway.
Image

As mentioned in the title this is a cafe racer inspired build so a little retro is in order.
The first part of operation "Retro Metro" also happens to be the coolest part of any build... The wheels.
Ok so the rear is not so special and is actually pretty tame by TR standards.

10x5 that will be powder coated satin black.
Image
This will be wrapped in a 145/50/10 tire.
Image

The front wheel is the focal point of my build and was the main motivation behind the theme.
12x2.5 spoked wheel that will be wrapped with a 100/60/12 kenda.
Image

Next on my mind was the brakes.
I wanted some big boy brakes and this is about as "big boy" as I could come up with without going overboard. Sorta.
It consists of a Brembo 2 piston sliding caliper, a Brembo radial master cylinder and a QTM/Brembo 267mm full floating rotor.
Image

I knew the rotor was going to be a tight fit so I went with the sliding caliper for the extra clearance on the wheel side of the rotor.
Here a little prospective shot to show just how big this rotor is.
Image

I will be machining an adapter to bolt the rotor to the wheel that will also space it out enough so the wheel clears the caliper.

I will be putting on a ruck swingarm along with a center mounted mountain bike air shock and custom shock mount.
Image
Image

I also picked a set of handle bars that is sorta retro without doing the clubman/drop-bars that are common place on all the cafe racer style bikes these days.
Image

This was sort of a rush post just to get everyone up to date but I hope to get into more detail about everything I do from here on out.

I could probably spend another page blabbering about all of my plans and ideas but I will just save that for when I get there
I have a couple of things that I hope you guys will enjoy.

Until next time...

One more part to check off the list.

I think the only major thing I need now is a set of forks and I will finally tear this booch apart and the building can finally begin.

I will be ordering those as soon as I can figure out which ones I want.

Won't be long now...
Stay tuned.....
