Well shit, if he won't post, I will.

Rob came over today an we installed a new rotor and some fresh pads on the big ruck.

We got lucky with the rust and everything came free except one fender mounting bolt that broke off as soon as I applied pressure to it. Went pretty quick. :banger:

Yeah, he got every penny's worth on those suckers.

We were going to put some rear shoes, but realized that was a ton of work, and would require removal of a very rusty exhaust. So we said nope.

I'll walk through the process online again and make a list of all the parts I'll need before attempting the rear shoes. I have the replacement bolt, gasket and silver bullet. Maybe the collar... Can't remember.

Well, the rear tire is flat now, so removing the rear assy is going to be a huge pain. Not looking FWD to it.

Def'ly may be my barrier to participating in Spring Scoot this year.

Yeah, I've been curious about the Devil Ruck. I know you were disappointed when you found out your wheel design wasn't exclusive, did you terminate, or is it still a work in progress? Really wanted to see that baby finished...

Purchased the tire today.

The 50 is "consuming" coolant. can't figure out why or where it's going. It's been down needing a full tune up & consumables replaced. Possibly can get it going for SS, but it's so slow (under 40) I'll just do the Fri ride, maybe the Sat, depending on how it rides. I'm pretty sure I have everything I need for it. The biggest hurdle is the motivation :?

I still want to finish the Devil Ruck project, but I'm kindof in a holding pattern about the swap. I realized that the 50 just won't push the weight I've added so a swap is a necessity. After talking with ppl and thinking it over, I think the SH swap will just be too expensive and a PITA. I'm leaning back towards the Zuma or the new PCX swaps. I guess it just depends on the engine I can find.

Well, I'm also a dummy. Already had a tire :ucrazy:

I got into the project, muffler came off much easier than expected.

However, I can't find the rear wheel axle nut size. Can't find it online or in the service manual. I have to go buy this socket, so I'm not wanting to buy a bunch of oversized sockets I won't use :meh:

Guess it's not looking good for this weekend :pissed:

Edit: Rear Axle nut is 24mm

Well, I got the new rear tire on (with help changing the rubber from Version-- :highfive: )

I rode to work for a week, then rode to the start of a rally last Friday. We started smelling rotten eggs/sulfur and traced it back to my Big Ruck. We then heard a whistling. Upon investigating, we discovered the battery was boiling and steam escaping was causing the whistling. This sketched us out pretty bad, so we unhooked the battery & let it cool down. An hour later, I hooked it back up & rode straight home.

Possible ideas:
• Reg/Rectifier is bad and overcharging the battery
• I was sold a defective battery last year
• I was sold the wrong type/size of battery
• Something complicated within the electrical system

Really hoping it is a bad battery so I did some digging and found a Yuasa clone (still mfg by Yuasa, interestingly enough.) So, I'm going to do some digging to see if I can figure out how many Amps should be coming from the bike to the battery when on/off and test that, as well. That's IF I can figure that out. Otherwise, I may just replace the battery and keep an eye on it. I def'ly don't want this thing blowing up under my crotch.
