Installed one of my HID projectors today, Came out pretty sweet, but think i need to paint them black (reflector and housing around projector glass)

Here is a pic, and a short video showing the LO/HI operation of the HID.

Just curious what projector housing did you use? I have bought two off ebay and both were way to big to fit and look decent.

So i have spent the past two weeks seriously studying the differences between the ruckus wiring and what is needed to run a GY6.
because of this and my natural curiosity being an engineer and fabricator, this thought came to me...

The main difference between the GET motor and the GY6 as well as the root of the majority of problems when trying to utilize the OEM harness for the swap, is the charging system.

This thought overwhelmed me for the past two days until i decided to look further into it.

The GET motor has a pretty ingenious solution for starting and charging and it works really good. So why wouldnt it work on the GY6?

I have decided to find out so here is what i have done so far...

I took the stator/starter off of the get motor to compare it to the GY6 stator. I found that the flywheel of the GET is nearly identical in size to the GY6, with the GET being only 1mm larger in diameter to the GET and has the exact same Height as the GY6.

Second, I found the Shaft taper angle to be the same as well as the final diameters (the small end of the stators shaft hole) to be within 1/2mm .
The shaft key-way is identical on both.

Third- The stator on the GET is much larger in many aspects but very similar others. This is mainly due to the GET's built in starter.

Fourth- the shaft on the GET's flywheel that slided over the crankshaft, is much much larger that the GY6 (this may or may not be an issue)

I dont have my GY6 at home so later this next week im going to do some machining and such...

BASICALLY......

I am 98% sure that i have found a way to run the entire GET electrical system, including starting capabilities, on the GY6, eliminating the need for any change in wiring. I have always been a fan of keeping things as stock as possible, especially when it comes to honda. One of the things that led me to this curiosity was the fact that the GY6 was originally designed by honda, and being that Honda generally has kept a history of maintaining dimensions and using that same information and technology on multiple platforms, should yield that there are similarities which would allow for the stator and flywheel to work on the GY6.

Now there is alot that i am not telling you because i literally have over 80 hours of thought and research into this.....

If i am right though and this idea does work, it will definitely eliminate nearly all of the issues of running a GY6 using the OEM harness.

Some pro's of doing this-
keeping stock fuel pump
OEM starter will work
No charging issues
No hacking of your precious OEM harness!

Things that are left to be discovered...
Timing differences between the GET and GY6 as the GY6 will be completely controlled by the OEM ECU.

Got my Jiange Wayne super low shocks installed with the mnnthbx Drum brake adapter. Low on cash right now so this was a very viable alternative to getting the disc kit for the time being.

Installed PWJDM Stem and handlebar kit and installed the stock controls on it.

Relocated the Front blinkers to where the reflectors used to be.



Still working on one piece rear frame.

Also machining the GET stator to fit on the gy6 next week, will also need to modify the GY6 motor slightly but should work no problem.

Looks great so far just one question, why go through the hassle of making the GET harness work when you can convert a gy6 harness for 20$ and about 2hrs of work?

The only thing stock ecu is good for after swapped is running the fuel pump but a mikuni is proven to flow plenty of fuel and is plenty reliable

To get the projector to work i just used a slim HID ballast hooked up as directed.

I think i will end up doing a carbon fiber shroud around the projector rather than just painting the housing.

A very good question as to why i want to use the GET harness Vs. using the GY6!

The first reason is because, i never like taking to thing things the same way that everyone else has. I am an engineer and industrial designer who likes to use what is available already but try to figure out a new way to use it or manipulate it into something unique.

The second reason is because i am fascinated by the starter/alternator on the GET, so why not put it to use on the GY6?
I like electronics and the OEM electronics on the ruckus are pretty neat. I like the reliability of the electric fuel pump though i do know that a mikuni will do the job, i just prefer it to work and to never have to worry about having to prime a pump if i run out of gas.

Third, It gives me a reason to design a new right side crank cover which will properly hold the GET stator as well as allow me to expand the oil capacity, thus lowering oil temperature, as well as shorten the oil fill tube so clearance issues for people running 8+" fatty tires will not have an issues.

It may be rediculous but thats literally how i live my life!

Its a 1990 accord, 612hp with a completely shaved engine bay that i hand wrapped in carbon fiber as well as made a MIL-spec wiring harness from scratch for.

interesting accord u got there i like how its cf wrapped never seen that done..i have never seen anyone setup the dyno backwards like that either lol..exhaust going inside instead ..curious to the outcome of this gy6 project looks promising! do what others havent done yet
