Post subject: SUPER whiny GET motor in my Met. Big bore kit on my mind.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 10, 2013 5:05 pm
So I picked up a '06 Metro for 100 bucks awhile ago. Did a valve adjustment and some required maintenance on it, got it running. I swapped out the carb internals to Ruckus spec. I have been riding it for about 300 miles total. The motor is super loud and whiny, and I've narrowed it down to one of the main bearings on the crank. There is also a nice little leak which drips down to the centerstand. I love the Metro since it was my first non-motorcycle, and it hauls ass and rides great, other than the crap rear shock... and the crap forks... haha

Anyhow, I've stopped riding it and have been riding/testing my Ruckus and various mods.

So, rather than swapping out my Ruckus engine/rear end onto the Metro, or putting money towards rebuilding the engine back to stock (boring).... I want to do a BIG BORE.

So if anyone wants to point me in the right direction for the necessities for a big bore, that would be appreciated. I will do more reading, but my searches on TR net me next to crap. And I'm drinking.

Depends which BB you GET.

There is the Chanito kit sold solo by Tokyo parts.

There is a crate BB engines that JC sells

There is a 66cc from Steady garage.

There is the BBB kit which is the DIY.

I'm a big fan of DIY, unless the amount of time outweighs the cost savings.

For my Met replacement engine, I decided to eBay a very low mileage one for $225, so money well spent

So now I have the spare GET sitting around. I am am planning to pull the heads off soon to P&P, maybe lighten up the valvetrain, and throw a cam in. I'm pretty sure the crank is bent, so if I break the engine down, I would want to do the BBB, and much more reading.

Actually We sell the kit. Its reliable if you know how to build these engines.

Plus if you do a conservative BBB you can pay well under $1k for it. Stock bore GET's do 50+ yes but Its how you GET there.

OUr BBB does 50-52 no tucking.

I have a bolo big bore and I live in the antelope Valley were the winds range from 12 to 30 plus mph. In 24 mph head winds I'm averaging 40 - 42 mph the bbb holds its power. Well worth the upgrade not I gotta figure how to hit 60 mph on the daily!
