Ok.. so Im on my BB Ruck, and it's running great... engine wise at least... but seems to be lacking in top speed.
What drivetrain setup are you guys w/ GET's running to get over 50mph? I don't care if its stock engine or big bore...

Drivetrain setup:

Variator: Polini w/ 5.5 rollers
Clutch: Stock
Gears: Stock
CDI: POSH w/ 10.5k limit
Wheel/Tire: 10x5", Pirelli SL26, 130/90/10, 36psi
Flat land speed: 48
Downhill speed: 54.9 <--- wont stinkin go over this!

Comments:
Acceleration is much improved over stock.... no problems rolling w/ the surface street traffic. Solid 48mph on flat streets.
I did go over a new bridge... that has a long smooth downhill, and I noticed it gets pegged at 54.9mph, then it wont go over, whatsoever.
Discussing with Smartbomb, my CDI might be questionable... but who makes a good one? or should I just look for a new Posh unit?

with my stock bike my rpm's are right around 10.5k @ 52mph with a polini variator and 5.6 gram weights. maybe your on the rev limiter at 54mph.
thought about met gears? or a shaved drive face?

that link has some stock bore setups with speed claims. I just installed a shaved drive face on my big bore and it still has crazy pickup and the top end is still good.

^ Jedi makes a point. You said you have the 10,500rom limit posh. What exactly are your rpm's running 48mph? The shaved drive face and Met gears are a great option IF your already up in the 10,000 rpm range. If not, you need to work on getting them up there for higher top speeds. I never could get my Polini to perform in the above 9,000 range, just wouldn't push the little GET up that high. The variator is a form of gearing.

Damn, you're getting same speeds as I am.. and my engine is a bigbore... Jeez.

Ok, funny thing I noticed today. The slight downhill bridge I commute over, at WOT, I can get 54.9... but today... same temps, same time, etc...
I only got 51mph... I didnt notice any headwind. Only difference is I was using my MX helmet instead of my Shoei street helmet.
Rollers were still round when I checked them about 70 miles ago.

I think you should try the shaved drive or met gears. I'm sure you are getting to those speeds faster than anybody else so you could afford some bottom end for top end if youd like.

Jedi... You're right on that... my BB ruck will outrun a stock Ruckus like it's standing still... catch up to them, pull on them, etc... I always have to let off when I roll w/ friends w/ stockers...
but on my own, I'd like to get my top speed up...

So, I have a set of Met gears at home. Is there a good write up on swapping the Met stuff? I remember hearing something about washers... to use less or something.

Also, what exactly is shaving the variator? is it to the polini side, or the kick start side? or both sides that need to be modified? can I do it at home?

Thanks!~
