If I can remember correctly 94-01 Elite SA50 has an AF16 motor which is pretty much the same motor as a Dio. The Dio has an AF18 but from what I read they are the same :meh:

You should buy one, they rock :highfive: :banger:

To describe a DIO in one word would be... HAWAII :banger:
Every five minutes someone is blasting a Dio.
From tourist riding "Mopeds" that's what they call em at the rental places.
Too Dio BLASTER crews of two, seen a bunch of 2 dude rider crews who would roll up with their buddy, wait for the light or signal, then BLAAAAAAST! Looks like too much fun.
Told the Hawaiian TRers to find me Job in Hawaii, workin/wrench on all them Dios!

Correct. It is not the same as the dio but the closest Honda would sell us. There are also minor variations within the 94-01 af16.

Technically, "dio" is a scooter model. That model hae had several engines over the years including 2t and 4t, horizontal and vertical cylinder configurations. So do your homework when buying parts.

The series starts with af18 for the dio. The af18 used two different cranks during its production life. The af16 was sold in many countries. In the USA, we received it in the '94-01 elite 50.

Differences :
Pulse generator pick up location
Gear ratio
Crankshaft length
Pulley size
Case and cylinder porting
Fan shrouds
Af18 is already set up with vacuum nipple for the fuel pump
Carburetor
Exhaust pipe

I am sure there are more differences that I am unaware of.

Yes, the elite 50 is closest to the af18 (2t vertical dio).
