. . ..so apparently the location is still up in the air, per that thread. . ...IMO, someplace with nice roads to ride, easy for 50cc's to keep up & where lodging, parking & prices will be a breeze. ...

Unfortunately, on the other thread people are too busy bitching at each other to really consider those sort of attributes.

Personally--having visited 45 or so states in the US, 3/4 of the Canadian provinces and about 1/4 of the Mexican states--I think that roads easy for 50cc's can be found nearly everywhere. But there are certainly some places more attractive and with better roads than others. That's why offering some route ideas are warranted.

There is currently some foolish name calling going on about Chicago. But anybody not acting like a cranky 12 year old would have to admit that there is indeed plenty to do there. Different types of rides than a place like San Diego, but still good rides.

Lots of posts on the other thread support urban California, but I seriously have to ask where exactly in big city California is lodging cheap and parking easy? Downtown Chicago has similar problems, though someone did point out the ease of camping between Chicago and Milwaukee. Maybe a San Diego local can offer some similar options?

I really support the idea someone brought up of Wisconsin because there are some good city rides, the back roads are fucking beautiful, the beer is excellent and the living is cheap enough. Please note that I'm supporting a place really far from where I live because its a good place, not because its my place.

I think a central locale would do well. Contucky was mentioned once or twice.

I haven't looked at the other thread yet, but it doesn't surprise me that the bickering has already begun. It's like any election: everyone spends more time bad-mouthing any option with which they disagree, jumping up and down waiving their arms, until people get sick of it and semi-civil discussions finally commence.

Since we're not trying to get it in Seattle AGAIN any time soon, I'm happy to stay out of the conversation for the time-being.

I will say that I'm more likely to go if it's on the west coast, especially if it's in Colorado, Oregon, California, or Vancouver, BC...

so far there have been suggestions for
albuquerque
san diego
austin
chicago
kentucky
wisconsin
canada

are there other locations that should be considered?

i have been to a couple of conference of noise gatherings and i am pretty sure it will be an outrageous time no matter where it happens.

let's hear some ideas

Since Carolina is pretty adamant about their event- the east coast is out IMO. And I'm not really feelin it anymore so san Diego is probably out- gotta see how work goes... I mean who wants to ride from the beach through the mountains to get to a dive bar at the edge of the desert?

There was a common understanding about this event- like wait a month to post about next years event, not the last Sunday of the event. I think was just an understanding of people who attended a CoN. Let people soak up the good times they had. It takes no time to plan this thing- I could it with my eyes shut. And voting doesn't always work, since most jus think about what's easiest for them. I've never voted for my hometown, but I've put it up as an option, cause pretty sure I know how this event should go down.

^ I think we'll need green stickers to go off road, but I think there are certain roads we can ride on. I'll look into it tho!

by your sig it looks like you have easy access to Carolina. It started in Vegas, then Colorado, then KC, then Seattle. It's already been central twice, and having it in the middle of the US doesn't necessarily make it any easier.

I probably should've posted this here to help consolidate threads...also another reason to come to New Mexico is an off-road desert race! No off road stickers needed here.

^but then this event turns into every other rally. Whoever is willing to host needs to figure out how to keep the party going. Hotels are so far away. It makes sense to share rooms, but the chosen city has people willing to host others.

CoN should be like a 60's surf rock movie where everyone is passed out everywhere and the first person that gets up starts their bike to wake everyone else up, then everyone rides all day, and drinks and looks through japaneese scooter magazines all night while tuning and installing parts and stuff. Thats a good Day at the Conference of Noise.

The camping thing is always better in my mind, but I don't expect everyone is into it the same. Sometimes people want to cruise town, hit the bars and crash at the motel 6. And many big cities don't have much camping nearby and you might have to depend on crashing in someone's yard instead.

But I personally know 3 places previously mentioned that have excellent camping possibilities:
Austin: Lake Travis is nearby with many opportunities and a killer lake scene, but its still a little ways away. Better is Emma Long Metropolitan Park--a city park with camping, a beach and an off-road motorcycle/mountain bike park to test your Ruckus.

Albuquerque: Here in the Burque we're surrounded by National Forests, random gov't land and BLM land. Individuals or small groups can camp for free in dispersed areas. Organized group sites (50-100 people with picnic tables, fire pits, outhouses, sometimes with water) can be had for as little as $40/night for the entire group. There are also private campgrounds with more amenities like showers.

Wisconsin: Lots of county parks and state parks with camping.
