so i have a 2004 HONDA met with little work done, polini variator, roller weights, stock carb re-jetted, NCY CDI, does about 45mph. im planning on taking the long road trip around may, i have looked into Wans road trip and will be following the same protocol. i get about 80 mpt( miles per tank)
so i was planning on bringing a extra 10 gallon fuel tank. my main concern is what i should bring does anyone have any pointers? im fairly new to posting on TR usually just lurk around and read

10 gallons? Where do you expect 800 miles between fuel stations?

i dont know, i just figure id play it safe. you think 10 gal tank is a little over kill? i figured 800 miles was a safe buffer so i never run out in a bufu area and spend a day waiting for a good samaritan to stop and help me fill up

here the Met 6580 miles, bought with only 800 miles, actually the front tire is still the stock TRC tire, rear has been replaced with 90/90/10 sl26 but think i will go 100/90/10 before the ride for the rear and place the 90/90/10 sl26 in the front

Your top post is telling the world your address...

I'd think 5 or 6 would be good. 5 gives you a 400 mile range plus the 80 from original gallon. Many cars go less than 300 miles per tankful. Keep in mind gas weighs 8lb per gallon.

well with the 8lbs per gallon rule that definitely weighs out 10 gallons, i alone weigh 175lbs and a 3 day rucksac packed should weight around 80lbs with full equipment( just basing of the rucksac weight off what i remember my rucksac weighing on ruck marches)

I have never gone that long a trip, but I would advise getting safe storage for your scoot during your stops. ppl tend to like to "borrow" them.

Also, I would say a pillow or something to put between you and the seat to prevent saddle sores. I dont own a met, butt I can imagine the stock ruckus seat feeling like sitting on a Cadillac fender.

Tool wise, ull need a spare belt and a few spark plugs, plus the tools needed to replace em....a first aid kit is always good...ur gonna be carrying a load for that small motor...id do a few short range practice runs as a dress rehearsal...
