ACP Update July 18th, 2014
The drive from Gunnison, CO to Wyoming was incredible
! Lots of traveling thought the middle of nowhere, but the views were spectacular. We went over at least 6 or 7 passes from 8,000' to 14,000'. Also, if you like camping (with a tent) check out Echo Park at Dinosaur National Park. It's 12 miles down a fairly well-maintained dirt road, but it's something else. Definitely worth checking out. Note: they don't allow any trailers or pull behind campers on the road.
We made it to Green River, Wyoming yesterday. The intended destination was Rock Springs, WY but as we went to make the turn for the final 10 mile stretch we came face to face with the interstate. (We weren't going to do this again. We did have to jump on I25 in Santa Fe, but that post is coming in a couple weeks). There was only a very long way around and we wouldn't have made it that night so we decided that Green River will work. We had a great meeting with a couple ladies from the local food bank here. They gave us some great information and they hooked us up with a couple bags of food which is ALWAYS appreciated.
Our latest post is from Oklahoma, and can be found here:http://acproject-demery.blogspot.com/20 ... t-new.html
I'm really psyched about the direction this project is headed. We've joined forces with a couple nationwide organizations including a TV show (Emerald Planet) out of Washington DC. We're highlighting best practices of the projects we've found so far, so once we've nailed down a date we'll record the show. Right now it looks like September.
We'll be heading from Springfield, UT to Toquerville, UT around July 21st through July 31st, mostly around Rt 89. If anyone is in the area give me a shout.
