Good luck, you should definitely try and roll through Austin TX. We have a great crew here and some amazing scenic roads, we'd love to have you here.

The single-wheel trailer I built for the journey almost complete. I have to attach the main access door and wire up the tail lights.
I REALLY appreciate the offers of a bed/food/bike maintenance, etc. from everyone. If I may ask, please PM me all offers with city and state in the subject line. I need an organized way to catalog the offers so I can connect with as many of you as possible. I want to make a specific point of meeting and riding with all of you.

Still pretty nervous about entering Mexico...so any contacts you guys have down there would be helpful and appreciated.

ALSO - I would like to know if any of you might be interested in planning some (sub) charity rides or other events along the way. My idea is to have some bike runs, bike shows, volunteering events, etc, organized by my fellow Ruckers to raise funds for the three charities I am supporting. Bike runs are always fun...sell tickets, get a band(s), grill some food, and raise money...sounds like fun. Maybe open the bike run up to ALL bikes with the Rucks leading the ride. Just an idea...

I think the ride that Wan did a few years back was amazing...that trip impacted so many people. Let's build on that. Let's take that little miracle of goodwill he created and do something great!

A special thanks to Wan for inspiring me to walk according to the highest light I have!

Tom

Are you rolling by yourself? If so, you should seriously reconsider all that mileage in Mexico. You do not want to GET robbed, and riding through Mex. almost guarantees that. My .02 brutha', safe travels!

Monday April 16 4:20am *Trip Update*

I tried to leave on Saturday April 14 but ran into a few problems. First, it was raining like hell. We're talking torrential downpour. It was hard to see the road bc of the amount of rain.
Second, the trailer hitch had too much play in it and was causing the trailer to learch from side to side, and third, I realized that I could not pack half my house in a scooter trailer...it makes for one very top heavy scooter cart...the tail was wagging the dog.
SO, we spent Saturday night re-engineering the trailer mount, and I went through three rounds of unpacking stuff out of the trailer before I got it down to an acceptable weight.
Then met my family early Sat. morning for breakfast, then hit the road. I drove about 150 miles and stopped at a small campground in Elkins WV around 7:30pm Sunday night.
Forgot matches or a lighter (damn it!) and had a can of cold soup for dinner! Which more importantly means NO MORNING COFFEE!!! ...lol.
Around 4am a bunch of dogs started barking and I got a little spooked...so I decided to do a journey update as a distraction...lol.
I took some great pics but can't post them bc I am updating from my smartphone...will get pics posted ASAP.
I am going to be on the road early today and hope to knock out about 200 miles or so and arrive somewhere in Virginia later this evening. Headed out on Rt 250 South when I leave campground. Anyone avail for dinner this evening in or near Richmond?
BTW - having an incredible time! Very glad I did this.
Tom

I'm around Lake Charles, LA close to the Texas border. Let me know when you get close and what supplies you need and I'll hook you up.

Well I was a translator of Mexican documents a decade ago and am a citizen, but my Spanish is pretty rough verbally. My wife is a native from San Luis where we have a house and she speaks Messican. Yea, you must be sharp to keep from getting ripped off or robbed but carry bribe money, a $20 will make most traffic tickets go away. What's the route in Mexico you plan to take?

Call me silly, but when I hear, "carry bribe money" a few red flags go off in my head. Like so... :wc_flag: :wc_flag:

Safe journeys, brutha! Keep the updates coming.
