Post subject: Ruckus idles fine, but after stopping dies and bogs
PostPosted: Thu Mar 16, 2017 12:01 am
Hello everyone!

I got a 2011 ruckus with 1400 miles on it last weekend and put 100 miles on it no problem. It's giving me issues now. Starts up fine and rides fine but every time I stop and give it gas it stalls. I have to restart it, ease the throttle, and then it works again after a few moments. Sometimes it bogs on the top end, and I have to go WOT just so it doesn't slow down. I've changed the pilot jet, fuel filter, battery, and spark plug. I've also double checked the air lines and it seems they're okay as well. Cleaned the carb twice, and it looks okay. Main jet is unclogged, pilot jet is brand new.

Any help would be very, very appreciated!

So I rode it around yesterday. It was fine in the beginning, then about 10 minutes of riding i was at WOT and it slowly lost all power and finally died. After 1 minute I was able to restart it and it rode around fine again, but then started hesitating when I gave it throttle and also in the upper range.

If anyone has any ideas, please help!

Have you checked your coolant levels/lines? Sort of sounds like the bike is overheating and going into limp mode. That would explain why it starts again after a few minutes (its cooled down).

Thanks for the reply,

Coolant is also okay, and the engine overheating indicator doesn't come on. The bike hesitates upon acceleration sometimes, and I reckon if it were shutting off it would either shut off or stay on, right?

I don't know what that means.
What size main jet are you running? Any mods?

It's completely stock. Stock jets.

Fixed it today though, but I hope if it happens to anyone they stumble on this thread. Turned out to be the fuel pump. If you hear it click loudly it's probably toast.

Runs perfect now, can't wait to ride her once the weather clears up :)

I've had that issue too, a loud clicking pump usually only sends a little fuel. Glad to see you got it taken care of.
