The first time I took it out for the GY6 swap for test ride after a few minutes I hear the crazy rattle start.... OH NO!!! I was like WTF!!! Sceeeeeerrrrrt!!! I stoped looked for what was making all that noise.
I found it, damn... It's the taillight!
The internal light board with the GY6 good vibes that it puts out was harmonically rattling the light on the inside. So I got back took the light off the bike to figure out how to keep the internals from vibrating. Well that was not all that was wrong. The light board mounts on 2 long plastic post on the inside of the light from the back mounting plate. One these post broke in half so drilled a hole in the corner to be able work threw to be able to repair the post. I fixed that with good ole' superglue threw the hole I drilled in the corner.
To keep it from happening again...
The FIX:
The light has 2 drain holes or moisture vents on the bottom of the light. I drilled these out to 1/4" and squeezed silicone threw the holes, enough to get into the circuit board to hold it. Dampening if you will... to help keep the vibes down, and hold it from the harmonics that the GY6 creates.
Works perfect!!
I would suggest to anyone with this taillight to do the silicone trick to keep yours from braking too.
Here are some pics of what I did... Hope you like...
