First off.
I have no plans to build these for anyone, Just too time consuming.
I'm just posting my idea of an extended floorboard option for the Big Ruckus.
Because they are a modular design, the rods that hold the footrest can be as long or short as the rider needs, along with the
angle to change the rise of the bar.
As installed:

Heres whats going on underneath the footrest view:

Image

Image

Only had to drill 2 holes to mount the front mount to the floorboards:

Image

This is the most time consuming part to mill:

Image

Image

Image

I originally thought that the front mount alone would hold the rods OK, but after I tested there ability to limit the downward flex,
I realized that I needed a rear mount too.
It doesn't mount to anything other than the rods. It fits snug to the bottom of the center bar and resists the upward twist from the rods.

Image

Both parts installed as viewed from the top:

Image

Image

I used 1/2" round rod from Home Depot or Lowes and removed the scale which let it slide through the 1/2 holes easier:

Image

And I used a 1 1/4" Solid alum bar that I knurled, but it could almost be any shape that would attach to the ends of the rods:

The only other modifiaction the bike is this:

Some notes and thoughts for anyone wanting to do this or have it done for them:
There was a fair amount of deviation from left to right, especially with the thickness of the center bar in its relation to the new mounts.
That measurement is critical IMO so that they dont rock or move around when everything is tightened down,
the rear mount is pushed tight against the center bar, allowing no play.
Someone could also weld up some mounts using a similar design. That would be quicker, but more
permanent and less adjustable.
I'll take a few more pics up close as installed in the AM.

Thanks.

And yes, I forgot to credit comaboy for his design:

Image

He inspired me to work on a way to keep the floorboards and just add on to them.

Heres a few more pics as installed.
I still need to paint or coat the rods. They are bare steel right now and won't look too good after the rust starts.
Maybe I'll clear them?

Also, in case anyone wants to get into a home metal shop on the cheap,
I highly suggest the Smithy....Its the best Chinese crap this side of the Dolse.

But its worked OK for me for 15 years.

Nice, Chuck!

The best of both worlds.

On BioHazard I have to work around the leg guards for my extended foot rests, since I've become use to the leg guards in winter.

(although I may take them off to run Sawman and Roscoe in Durham.....with all the J.Costas out there I need every advantage I can get!)

I'm thinking of C channel large enough to fit
and weld in nuts the same size as the
floorboard mounting bolts for moving the
floorboards forward. I don't think it would
have that cluttered look. Going to snoop around
for the right size C channel.

Well Chuck, if you won't build it I'll just have to find someone else who can. You'd think in LA I could find someone. Of course, your work has such detail, I doubt I'll find someone as good. I think I'll email this link to some Ruckus guys and see what they say. How much should it cost, do you think? And just wondering Chuck, could the foot pegs be rounded as I'm a city driver. This is such a great vehicle for LA. You all deserve weather this fine all the time. Oh yeah, I saw your back rack and I am wondering two things about that. One is what it should cost someone to fabricate and install. Secondly, can you rig up a back rest for my wife or daughter who like riding behind me. We are a world of specialists. I do my thing and now I need your help. E

Thanks for the nice comments E.
As far as cost for someone to make up footpegs? I had probably 10 to 12 hours in these..but I'm slow (mentally and physically)and working with a home/hobby type mill.
I'm sure a pro with a good set of drawings could do it in a few hours. Finding a business to do a one off like these would be a challenge....Know any high school machine-shop teachers?

As far as rounding the front pegs..no problem. They could be any shape neede as long as they had somewhere to attach to the 2 rods.

STILL working on the rear rack. My borrowed sandblaster blew a seal 5 minutes into the project today. :pissed:
I dont think I'd attempt to make a backrest unless I was the only one using it..not even a family member.
If my rear rack fails, all I've got is a mess. If the back rest fails, someone could get hurt..Sorry
