Good Afternoon,

Last week after riding our BR for 1/2 hour we noticed a quarter size spot of oil
on the ground, under the left (not muffler side) side after the bike sat in
the garage cooling down.

Anything I should be aware of that could cause this? Its all stock including
the air filter.

Thanks for any help ... as usual!

One guess from an old brain. The filter housing has a drain tube on it. If you're running more than a quart of engine oil there may have been enough puked out of the crankcase breather tube to sufficiently saturated the air filter resulting in a drip out of the tube.

Thank you DougE.

I will check that area. This BR only has 1,500 miles and has been
really well taken care of, so an oil leak was a bit of a surprise.

I appreciate your thought!

Good Morning,

We are going to follow DougE's suggestion and replace our BR engine
oil tomorrow, with a quart of Bel Ray synthetic blend Scooter 5W-40 oil.

We spent a few days at Daytona Bike Week Thur - Sat
and visited the Bel Ray company display. Speaking with
their Chemical Engineers they actually were familiar with
the BR and they suggested their synthetic blend
Scooter 5w-40 oil for the Big Ruckus.

It's blended for all 4 stroke scooter engines with liquid or air cooling and
wet clutch systems. The bottle has "SCOOTER" printed vertically,
in 1" letters, running up and down on the front of the bottles. (belray.com)

Hopefully, installing exactly 1 quart will stop the occasional oil
drip our BR is experiencing on the L rear side. :usa:

Probably a good place to start. If it was overfilled or just some residue buildup in the air cleaner dripping out, that'd be easy to verify. Other easy check on that side of the motor is the valve adjustment screw in plug things.. Just in case, I'd pull off that side cover on that side of the bike and have a good look over.

Could be rear gear fluid too, that fill and drain plug can come loose

Thanks chucktuna.

I will check the area while hoping that just one quart of
engine oil will take care of the problem.
