I plugged the Reflex ICM into #2 and started it........
I did not rev it or ride it!

It worked and the only thing I noticed was the idle was about 200 rpm faster.

I will try it again later after I get the carb tuning part worked out.

Just curious, Hal.......is that PROM/EPROM hard soldered to the board or is it in a socket??

I left the layer of gel on the bottom and around the chip but it looks to be soldered. I looked up the part number for the chip and it's a single use mask rom...from what I understand once the chip is programed it's done. :(

that's what someone else told me about these......
no remapping!

but I understand that some hackers do fool the maps by tweaking the inputs.....
adding to or subtracting from the TPS resistance or physically moving the pulse generator.

the best option is to get the ICM used with the hottest version of the engine.....
Forza, Foresight or X9.

but some versions of these don't use a TPS, so they use a more basic igniter box.

how similar is the helix to the BR as far as electrical. and could this possibly work to unlock some more revs on the big ruck.
http://www.scooterpartscatalog.com/perf ... 9-144.html
next question is... how much can it handle...a little ruck was designed to operate at up to 12k revs then down rated to 8k revs. but its much different as well it has a solid block instead of a bolt on cylinder.
I was looking at some of the wiring diagrams posted in the little ruck section on installing cdi's and it seems to work of a similar system that just needs to be bypassed givng the stock cdi some more brains, if you will.

Bringing this back from the dead,.....

Ed...Lisa's BR is in for a complete rebuild,...and I want to explore the idea of the Reflex ECM...there's a couple on ebay right now for under $100,....have you done any more testing since the initial plug-and-start?....Do a 1/4 mile run, swap units, do another 1/4 mile run....hook the Veypor up to it??

:canuck:

I was nose bagging around the FAQ's on ECUunleashed.com the only scooters they list are Gilera, Suzuki, Piaggio, Vespas to unleash.

Vince, I just got the Veypor for #2 back from Canada (that's where they're made)....
it's display had blanked out over a year ago and it was in the shop for about 7 months, but they fixed it for free!

Although I have almost every other mod comparisons graphed in detail, I don't have any of just the 2 ECUs swapped as the only variable....
but I can tell you there is a difference.

I could tell the scoot immediately idled faster with the Reflex ECU and I had to retune the pilot screw/idle screw adjustments, so something is different about the timing and advance maps.

You should do a 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, and 1 mile , excelleration tests, take your stock BR , do all 3 runs.....swap the ECU, do all 3 runs again

:highfive:

:canuck:
