My paperwork doesn't mention the H.P. of the Ruckus anywhere, and i was sent the title. In Missouri you don't even have to register one! No plates, no fees, no helmet required (dumb but there you go!) This has to be the best state for scooter ownership!

On the flip side, im sure, though i haven't heard, the rules will probably get stricter as time goes by. Theft is the thing here, however its sporadic. Being in the sportbike club here, and having several officers in the club, we have heard nothing about scooter wrecks, injuries, etc involving scooters, so maybe they will leave us alone!

Was told I needed a limited motorcycle license in New York State. Took the test on the ruck and they gave me a full (M1) motorcycle license.

No. You can take your Class L test on the Ruckus, but the Class M has to be on something at least 150cc.

The MSF provides almost everything though. You just have to provide long sleeved shirt, pants, boots with ankle support and gloves. Helmets and bikes are provided free of charge. You have the option of using your own helmet though, if approved. I think it has to be either FF or 3/4.

There is a scooter rental company in Chicago that will rent you a 150cc scooter for your Class M test. They'll deliver it to the DMV, allow you a little time to get used to the scoot in the parking lot, then you take your test, and they transport it back to the shop.

How do you get to the DMV to take your test when you don't have your M-license yet? What if you get pulled over while on your way to the DMV? lol

You probably take the written test and acquire a permit first... then ride to the testing station during daylight hours, wearing a helmet.

here in Michigan i know of peeps that have the "moped sticker" on their rucks. i bought mine from the dealer and ended up with a plate.
the DMV told me its concidered a motorcycle, so i have to have a "CY" license (cycle license) to ride it.
i passed the test with the ruck, piece of cake.
get your L's.
its easy.

Most states allow you to sign an aggrement that you could not reach a max. top speed of more than 30, in iowa thats what i did. only problem is if you go 43 past a asshole cop watch out for a high ticket and possible Title Fraud. But who would get caught.

how hard was the test?

I was thinking about instead of taking the MSF course, just getting my permit and then taking the road test to get it done and over with.

here in PA i walked into my dealership, payed for the ruck, put a plate on it, and left with it... no M-license... no bull. i was shocked. local officer friendly is quite bizzarr around here, but dont look twice to me... :ucrazy:

In in Maryland it's basically 50cc and undrer/51cc and over.

In Maryland the Ruckus:

Requires:
16 and up
Drivers License
Eye Protecton(Cops seem to do nothing about this) I did not find this out till after I bought the helmet. I road with no protective gear before I bought my helmet and Gloves for like a month.

NOT required:
Helmet
insurance
tags
Motorcycle license

Other requirements:
Can't ride over 30MPH(Again Cops careless. I have road passed Cops going 40MPH)
can't go on roads with speed limit over 50MPH(Basicly no highway) Anything over 70cc is highway legal.

In TN, if the bike is under 50 cc no license.

In MO, it has to be under 55cc, no faster than 30mph, and no more than 3hp. This ticks me off because the title to my ruck says top speed is 37 and it has like 4.2hp, so they say I need to license it. Total bull shit if you ask me.
