I have a factory 50cc Ruckus from 2003 that out of the blue has quit running. Won't idle and won't run off the main jet. It's got 2 new factory sized jets, carb is clean, fuel filter is new, gas is fresh and clean. It'll run 100% normal if I shoot brake cleaner into the intake. The issue is fuel related since it has spark and air.

I have a fuel pump inbound today but I don't think that's it since fuel is getting to the bowl but it won't even run off that. I'm kinda stumped and can't think of anything else. It won't run AT ALL unless I shoot some brake cleaner into the intake.

Any suggestions? :wasted:

wait until the new fuel pump is on and see if that doesn't fix it.

Pulled the fuel line and let the pump run and it pumped up a pretty steady stream but we'll know by tonight. I'll report back when the new pump is in.

Dropped the new fuel pump in today. Didn't do anything.

Turns out there was a LOT water in the gas. The tank was low and I filled up with fresh gas and when I took a sample of the gas I took it from the gas tank and not the carb like I should have. That's why I thought the fuel was fresh.

Ended up taking a sample from the carb and it was full of water. Flushed out the entire fuel system and it runs 100% now.

Bought a bunch of parts I didn't really need but I won't have to worry about the fuel system for a while now. :wasted:

that's good news.

Don't worry about the fuel pump. People ask for them all the time.

you might want to figure out how all that water got in there in the first place so it doesn't happen again.

if you leave your gas tank pretty empty over the winter you'll start to collect water in the tank. But that much water??? have any enemies???

It sat in a barn for about a year at 1/4 tank during a move so that may explain it. Still that was a LOT of water hahah
