Post subject: CVT filter, Important to clean
PostPosted: Wed May 13, 2015 3:02 pm
Cleaned the CVT filter today on the 2009 Vino 125 that my wife bought with 840 miles on it in 2013. I have put 1,000 miles on it since. Wife hasn't put a mile on it. I adjusted everything and did 2 oil changes in the 1,000 miles. The regular air filter is bright red and like new. I had to buy a impact screwdriver to get 4 Phillips screws to back out. Glad I got to this filter. It's supposed to be yellow but it was black and had a 1/16 of an inch of bugs & crud blocking it. You sure cannot use the air filter condition as an example of what the CVT filter condition is! You need to clean this thing. I scraped the heavy crud off and washed the filter with dishwashing soap. It came out looking like new. I air dried it and re-oiled then installed. I will clean this filter at every 1,000 mile oil change. Without an oil filter I think 1qt of oil changed out every 1,000 miles cheap insurance. I ran to Harbor Freight 41 miles away to get the impact driver. What a hoot running in the 55 mph roads to get there. I was maxing out at just under 60mph to keep up with traffic. Only slowed once in a long steep hill after starting from a stop at the bottom. I was still above 40mph as I crested the hill and the speed limit was 45.
It's a shame that most Americans don't see the fun and practicality in these 125cc scooters. They are missing out.............
