Is that a VZ21 or maybe the RHB31? I'm curious about the actual differences. I'm also curious to see what you come up with for your oil return. That's what has held me up with my turbo Ruck project, albeit a much smaller engine at 189cc. Careful, I blew out an oil cooler with my scavenge pump this summer, too much pressure, not free enough flow to the engine. I got it running and halfway tuned otherwise.

This get's me excited to start messing with it again! :D

I ordered an RHB31 and it has VZ21 cast on the side. I'm assuming no difference. I built an oil tank with a coil around it and I'm running engine coolant through the jacket to cool the turbo oil. I'm pumping the oil with a 7.5psi diesel fuel transfer pump.

Here's my oil tank heat enchanger dealie I built.

Tonight I'm getting the oil system mounted and starting on my cold side piping to my intercooler.

From everything I've been able to find on them, they're pretty much the same. I rebuilt my VZ21 with bearings for the RHB and it seemed to seal up better actually. Plus the flanges all match. I'm really diggin that oil cooler too! Nice work!

If it's a water cooled engine, this piece might be of interest. Can never have too much turbo cooling...

I've had, and have heard from others about, some hard dealings with those guys, but they did pull through.

Sweet I can build that sucker easy. I wondered what that other port was on my turbo.

Another picture with cold side piping.

Thank you.

I read your thread and I'm running through the same issues. I need the modify my intercooler. I still have to take my high compression piston out and take the dome off plus 3 base gaskets cause I'm 12-1 right now. I should be like 9.5-1 compression then. I havnt tested the scavage pump yet...waiting on my oil line kit. Building the water cooling lines for the turbo too. I get the compression down, intercooler modded, oil lines and water lines on....the air fuel meter on, power commander(only controller I can find) on...then I can start it with no hose on the throttle body. I want to test the air fuel meter and get a rich map going on thd commander. I have zero experience with a commander so ill get familiar. Also I need to mod my stock fuel pump to delete the regulator and return. I'm running a 1-1 boost matching regulator with return. Ill need a return welded in my take. I have an egr valve to delete....

My throttle body has the normal paddle but also a cv carb type slide. I'm going to see how it acts running with the slide held up all the time. I can't run the cv slide because there will be no vacuum. Also my map sensor has a hose going to it off the intake. I'm not sure if that reads vacuum or if its a sniffer of sort? I have a temp sensor that was in the stock airbox I need to mount in my k/n.

Lots to do before I add boost.

Yea those welds are beautiful! Can I send you some stuff to make pretty? lol, j/k.

I'm curious about how the power commander works out. The software I got with my EFI kit is crap. It's a modified version of MicroSquirt, and poorly modified at that. Too many memory leaks make tuning next to impossible, and I can only get a link via Bluetooth.

The turbo, waste gate, fabrication, cooler, tuner and making boost is not a problem. Two big issues I have is the map sensor is vaccum and the throttle body is cv type operated off vacuum. A turbo engine does not have vaccum with the throttle open. I'm trying to research the map sensor to see exactly how it works and may try to run the throttle body without the slide. Pretty sure my tuner will overcome the 4-6psi fuel pressure loss ill have under boost. Otherwise I may delete the factory fuel regulator for an external 1 to 1 regulator for boost. Any ideas welcome.

You should have a 1bar map sensor. Doesnt matter if you have a slide, butterfly, gate or whatever type of throttle body all it matters is having TPS output for the ecu to see. Your new Fuel press regulator is the ticket for the press drop under boost.
