New to the moped scene I guess you could say. Been trying to get my hands on one for a while and was finally able to. This one basically fell into my lap from a friend who had it sitting around collecting dust. It's not running at the moment. I'm gathering information on these right now so I can make an informed decision on the right step to take. Any info is appreciated.

"Fell into your lap" ?!?! Why don't these things ever fall on me? :pissed:

That looks pristine. Its a Puch E50 engine. Any idiot can fix/rebuild that engine. I should know because I've done it.

Get the shop manual for the engine here - http://www.mopedriders.org/html/manuals ... puchsm.htm

Rebuild guide here - http://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Rebuild_a_Puch_E50_Engine

mopedarmy.com for all your questions - fair warning, search first.

Good luck.

:highfive: Thanks so much for the info! E50, guess its the single speed then if im not mistaken. It only has 286 miles on it, it's been sitting in a shed since 1981 so yeah its in pretty good shape. Theres some rust in the tank, not sure if I can clean it out or what just yet. I definitely want to get this thing running again, so ill have to open it up and see what my best option for it is. Updates as they come

Use a POR-15 tank repair kit and you will be good, just follow the steps and DON'T rush it...

http://www.por15.com/FUEL-TANK-REPAIR-K ... info/FTRK/
We did 3 tanks last week and 1 the week before, stuff works. 8)

That por15 works. Wayyy better than the kreem tank repair. I have used both several times , the por15 always turns out better. Tiller gives good advice. :highfive:

The mopedarmy.com wiki has a detailed article on cleaning rust from a tank. Check it out BEFORE you do anything to that tank. Don't want to screw it up.

This is true. The tank itself has no dings and the paint is still great, I'd love to keep it if I could. So doing it right is priority.

Probably a good idea. I went with muriatic acid. Caused quite a scene when the hose came loose and spilled acid all over the garage floor! :headbashing:
