Yesterday I tried to start it again and it started for a sec and died immediately. I pulled the carb and cleaned it. Turns out the PO put a new carb on it very recently. Install looked pretty halfassed; he had stuffed a foam filter in where the snorkel between the airbox and carb meet and never removed the snorkel. One of the bolt heads was stripped. Wiring all looks a bit wonky, and the plug boot damn near fell off the wire. Both wheels are a bit off center. I've come to the conclusion I need to do a pretty complete teardown to get everything put together right.
Between this and doing some reading, and I've decided I need to go custom. I'm thinkin ratty, low and fast.
I love the idea of a little trail rider, but I can pick up an unregisterable dirt bike to run trails for next to nothing here. Why waste a titled, street legal bike on that if it'll only do 50 on the street?
I get paid tomorrow and I'm gonna order new points, condenser and plug wire (boot is a brand new NGK). Gonna also do a radioshack rectifier and work on the spark advancer. Between that and the signals I should be running and street legal soon and the real work can begin
