Post subject:  Underseat taillight/signal bracket installation instructions

Every kit will come shipped with:

-(1) base underseat bracket
-(2) well nuts
-(2) stainless washers for the well nuts
-(2) m6 X 25 stainless allen socket head bolts

Here's the step by step on how to install the underseat taillight/signal bracket. Figure 2 depicts the bracket with the optional license plate piece.

This is stating the obvious, but it's a whole lot easier to take the seat off when installing this setup. Also, install your brake lights and/or turnsignals before you secure the underseat bracket to the seat.

1. lay seat upside down on a sturdy surface
2. place light bracket as shown in figure 1
(IMPORTANT: if you have the NCY extension kit and the optional license plate bracket make sure you adjust the base bracket further towards the rear of the seat. This helps the license plate bracket clear the shock extension mount)

3. drill two 1/2 inch holes to accommodate the well nuts
(note: do NOT drill the holes larger than 1/2 inch in diameter. It's highly recommended that you use a 'brad point' drill bit so the bit doesn't wander. The holes in the bracket are larger then the diameter of the well nut cylinder. This will allow some adjustment for the bracket.)

4. place the well nuts thru the holes in the bracket
5. if you have the license plate piece place this over the two well nuts shown in figure 2. If not proceed to step 6.
6. position the washers over the holes
7. insert the m6 x 25 bolts into the well nuts
8. tighten all bolts securely
(note: make sure the whole assembly is flush to the seat bottom. If the assembly has some play in it, then you need to tighten the bolts even more. The well nut rubber cylinder will expand much like a wall anchor.)

Dammit, this makes me want to buy one off of you even more.

edit

Let's get back to legality....and visibility. Has anyone come up with a solution for the now-lacking rear reflectors? I really like to be noticed by other vehicles at night and while I can keep the reflectors on the license plate, the side ones were built into the old brake light.

I'm sure there are thousands of red reflectors out there, I'm just looking for something that goes with the look of the Ruckus.

[shameless plug]
Get one of my engine guards and you can install a whole sheet of reflective tape on it, or even bolt up reflectors of your choice.

I have more of these kits available, so get them while they are still around. This is probably the one and only run I'll ever do of them.

If i can find some lights and blinkers that I like and are affordable, I'm gonna get me one of these. Any links to some good light/signal combos?

This LED setup has the turn signals incorporated on the outside LEDs, and I think it costs around $42-45.

Yeah this is that light here ($49 w Free Shipping)

Just the middle 6 LEDs light up for the taillight and the 3 on each side are the blinkers. It's a very clean, high quality unit. The only knock on it is that it's not that bright of a taillight. The pic below is in a dark-ish garage with the brake light on. In the daylight with just the taillight on it's pretty dim.
