Anyone have a cheap source for Dynabeads? I'm going to put in BR and Van tires.

I don't know if these guys are the cheapest or not,...but this is where I order mine from.

I actually just recieved a shit-load of them a couple days ago. I ordered some for the BR back wheel (front has them in already), and I ordered a bunch for my truck tires, 235/75-15.

Prices seem to be decent here...it helped that my order total was over $99 so the shipping was free. The bags my beads came in were actually zip-loc unlike the pictures on their web page.

Or, you can just go by any local tire shop that handles big rig tires and buy a bag of balancing beads for about $7. Just measure out however many oz. you need for each tire.

I ordered in the large size so they don't get stuck in the air cores. Straight from the company.
Ordered in the Item so I'd have enough to do the other scooters and van also:

Quantity Description Amount
---- -------- ----------- ------
FP-EZO122 1 Dyna Beads - 12 oz - Fleet OTR - 42.76
Steer Pack ( 2 )

Subtotal 42.76
Tax Rate 0.00%
Tax 0.00
Shipping/Handling 9.03
Total $51.79

But methinks those are only an option at the time when mounting a tire, because they're too big to go in through the valve stem. Otherwise we're stuck with the expensive dynabeads.

I recently put airsoft pellets in my new back wheel/Michelin Pilot Sport SC 140/70-12.

I can NOT tell the difference between them and DynaBeads i previously ran. Like $10 for enough to do like 20 scooter tires!!!

I will be using these from now on, beads stuck in the valve stem is such a pain in the ass.

I am sure they will not be as durable as dynabeads so i won't bother trying to reuse them, but for the price, who cares

they are big enough to be able to know for sure there arent any inbetween the rim and tire and cannot possibly block the valve stem. FANTASTIC!!!

What's that got to do with balance beads, or balancing at all?? :dubious:

update on airsoft pellets...

I just had a new rear tire put on. I put airsoft pellets in last one like 3000 miles and 5 months ago...

They were 90% powder and the few remaining ones were much smaller than they started.

I took pictures and as soon as I find my memory card adapter, I'll get em posted.

I don't know if it is the extreme stresses or the fact that they are bio-degradable. Probably a little of both...

Needless to say I didn't put them in the new tire. This one should be on there for a very very long time...

A Yokohama Y372 in 145SR12

It is a very well made tire made in Japan. It only took 1/2 ounce to balance. I intend to get some big dyna beads (for semi's and big mud tires) to put in it in the coming months, maybe next spring or whenever I get around to it.

umm, according to the nomenclature on that Yokohama (145SR12), it's a sub-compact car tire??
It looks like it has a flat thread and a sharp shoulder.

I've run car tires on sidecar bikes (since they don't lean) and once I ran a Volkswagen 15" car tire on a VT1100 (for a very short while), but it only wanted to go in a straight line....it had a mind of it's own in a corner!
It was like a Bonneville Salt Flats sort of tire. :wasted:

On the more positive side, with a 1 ton load rating, it should outlast you and the BR!

:wasted:

It's actually not that bad in the corners. It'll take some getting used to but I can push it harder through the corners than Trish would ever go on purpose on any bike. It is the transitions to and from cornering and straight that are wierd.
