Post subject: What mods can you get for the SH150i?
PostPosted: Sun Feb 14, 2010 5:15 pm
I am thinking about getting a SH150i for everyday transportation. I would liike to improve on the looks. I would like to lower it and do an exhaust. I have a chance to get one at a good price, and I think it would be a great bike to get around town on.

The quickest appearance mod is to cleanup the rear end. Remove the hangdown fender, (the under fender does a fine job alone). I moved the plate to a side mount with a lighted frame. The wire for the plate light is separate and easy to get to. Since I ride for pleasure the luggage rack also came off. I used a nice anodized washer to clean up the center mount of the removed rack. Of course the air filter and pipe are logical and simple fixes and required no re-map, (although units are sold for a re-map of the SH). Lowering the front with cut coils is pretty much the same as any other bike and rear shocks can be changed easily. I'm just now moving into the 'stretch' of the engine mount and have my ideas down. Just finalizing plans. Also plan to get rid of the light/instrument pod to lower the profile of the front. Euro signals for the front will go right in with no mods if a source were located. Paint will also do a quick personalized look. All kinds of performance mods available from Polini. These bikes have been around for a long time in Europe. A Vietnamese company make a lot of stainless dress-up pieces that are found with a quick search of the web. You are only limited by imagination, money and the ability to fabricate parts, since nobody is jumping in to make parts yet, with very few exceptions.

Thanks for the info. I picked up my new sh150 today from the dealer. This thing runs really good for stock and the ride is great. I could not be more happy.

Congrats. What color? Are you going to get a performance exhaust for it?

Thanks. I got the metallic red. I am looking into an exhaust, but I am not sure what brand I am going to go with yet.

I'm going to get either the Two Brothers aluminum, or Yoshimura stainless. Unfortunately, being in Canada, if I want the Yosh I have to get it drop shipped at the border (about 90 minutes drive each way) and pick it up, as the freight rates into Canada are exorbitant. The Two Bros is sold in Canada.

I decided on the Two Brothers, ordering next week from www.bluestreakracing.ca in Canada. I listened to lots of videos on Youtube, especially of a couple of Yamaha Zuma 125's. Sounded great. Will sound better on the SH150! More to follow.

I had the Yoshi on a Zuma 125 and it was way to loud for me. I may go with the 2 bros on the Honda, but I want something that is not real loud. Please let me know how it sounds. Thanks for the links.

Here's the Two Bros on a 125 Zuma. Might be too loud for you?

Brahda, Did you sneak into my shop for the pics of the stretch? Mine will not be quite that extreme, but pretty close! Your rear shock is behind the end of the frame rail, so it'll have to slant forward a bit. But the overall look is real inspiring for me. Mine will be rollin' lonnnnng for HawaiiCon'10. See ya there! :rich
