Hi all,

first question on the board yet ! So basically I have just gotten a Ruckus last week, I bought it as a commuter, since I work 5 km from where I live. Now I have the opportunity to buy a complete Zuma on the very cheap. The Zuma has a blown 70cc engine, and the kid got a car so he is getting rid of it for dirt cheap.

I thought about buying it an building a Zuckus. My points of interest in the zuma are : Suspension, disc brake and engine.

So the question I ask is : Are the stock Zuma suspension (front fork and rear shock) any better than stock Ruckus ?

thx

Ill jump on this thread. To be honest if outré on a budget yes they are better. Disk brakes are better than drum. I did this when I did my swap used the zuma suspension on the ruck. With that being said I sold it and went back to the ruck TT and actual ruckus suspension. The geometry on the zuma suspension/triple tree wasn't that great IMO.

Here I Amy old thread showing how I did the suspension:

If this it uses the same parts as the equivalent MBK Booster that we have in France, then definitely yes.

I have a MBK front fork and disk on my Zoomer, and there's no comparison. I fitted an aftermarket 9 inch disk on the front, and the forks themselves are much stiffer. Good thing is, the triple T is a straight fit. no welding or messing around needed.

On the back matter I can't say as to how good the stock shock is, but I successfully managed to mount an aftermarket shock since they are the same length as on the Ruckus/Zoomer. As have others on this board, the Doppler shock is what I'm thinking about, that one for example was clearly designed for the MBK Booster/Spirit/Stunt/Nitro etc.

The stock fork is also easily lowered/serviceable

and dunno about the US market but here we have 10 12 and 13 inch rims on these MBK Boosters, so maybe you have compatible swapping stuff too ?

Maybe FDM could be the new JDM ?

I was asking basically to measure how good of a deal i could do in buying the zuma an swapping mist components (suspension, brakes, engine) in my ruckus. In keeping it low budget for this year, so no afternarket front end yet.

I have a zuma front end on my Ruck. You have to swap the triple trees since the zuma forks don't fit the Ruck tree. Only problem I've found is that the market for stems is small and most are pretty big because the zuma bars sit higher. So I feel like my bars are too high for my taste in looks, but they are comfortable.

If you're on a budget then yes. For instance I bought my donor zuma for $400. Used the motor and front suspension. I since then sold the front suspension for $300. I think itll be worth your time to do that mod

I got a deal for the zuma, I'm supposed to pick it up on thursday. I'll try my luck at swapping most components to my Ruckus !

I'm using the Zuma rear shock temporarily and its been perfect. Much better than the stock ruckus shock but its also taller.
