i have my new gy6 and my stock carb. it seems to cut out at WOT and when i let off from WOT. i have a taurus tube with a k&n filter, and a poon 150 exhaust. i live in tulsa, ok which is 700ft about sea level. on my stock get i shimmed the needle and ran an 85 and it was perfect.

just ordered a set of 120, 125, 130, 135 jets

which jet should i start out with to try?

If i were you (I'm not you) but I would get on jetsrus.com and buy increments of ten above and below and see what works.

Also, buy a few plugs and check them.

the one i took out was not marked so i dont know what size i had to start with, i put a 125 in and when i give it much more than half throttle it starts to bog pretty bad. think it might be to big, i will switch it out with a 120 tomorrow. any other suggestions?

went ahead and switched it to a 120 tonight since it is supposed to storm tomorrow. rode it around for a minute, still bogs but not as much. any ideas?

My stock size was a 103 I believe. Velocita exhaust and UNI filter I am now on a 115 main jet. But plenty of jets. Don't skip around sizes when tuning. Try one jet size each time. Use land marks for reference. And if you don't have a tach, get a tach. Tuning is easy but time consuming. Nobody wants to pay attn or take the time to do it right. There is a jetting 101 thread on here. I'm not doing anyone's homework. Ppl need to use the SEARCH function.

alright so im currently breaking in my gy6 right now it has about 100 miles. To me it runs great under load. i only gave it one WOT pull and no bogging or cutt-off. it did slow down in pick up from about 50 to 55 mph (this was barely noticeable the only way i noticed it was watching my stock speedo. I knew how fast i was going using my gps)

i pulled the spark plug to see if i was running rich or lean. from all the research ive done it seems to be running rich... however, im a little confused. look at the pic below hopefully someone can chime in. the only wet area is around the spark plug but not too much. and the center looks good.

is my idle rich or under throttle rich?

i also have no idea what carb this is but im guessing its stock since its 24mm it came with a 36slow and 105 main. im also a little lost too because i thought the main jet is supposed to be in the center but the one in the center had 36 on it and the other one sticking out in the pic below was the 105. can someone help me figure this out if there is a jet kit for this carb?

Thanks again everyone

thanks flip yeah I saw that thread and many others. I was more confused on the jet size and how it all works. Im still confused on the 36 being in the center and the 105 being on the outside. I thought 105 is supposed to be in the center. :meh:

all I know is I'm going to make a cheap ol' straight pipe and put an 02 bung that way I can see what a/f ratios I'm pulling. Ff it looks pretty stoich I'm not going to worry about it but I would rather it be on the rich side of stoich.

I'm trying to help a friend with his ruck gy6 build and I'd like to get a bunch of jets for tuning purposes, but I'm having a difficult time finding what jets I need to buy from jetsrus. I know what sizes I want to get to play with from all the reading I've been doing on here, I just don't know what carb to look under on their site to be sure I buy ones that will fit properly. Can anyone tell me part numbers or something similar that will point me in the right direction? Jetsrus website is a little overwhelming. It's the stock carb (or most common one I've seen pictured on here a bunch anyway)

I'm not totally familiar with the stock GY6 carb, but you can buy jet kits that have a 10 sizes of main jets. That might be worth it since buying a single jet is a couple of bucks but you'll get stuck with a big shipping charge. If you figure out you need a bigger or smaller one you'll get stuck again for all that shipping cost.

Yeah I've seen those. Problem is I'm not finding any that come with slow jets / idle jets whatever you want to call them. So I'd have to buy a set of mains and that fine but I'd also have to order someone else's throw together set of sj's. And I doubt that I need more than a 38-40 sj. So I was hoping to just hit up jetsrus and buy 5 or 6 mains and 2 slows and then shipping wouldn't be bad.

Also I noticed that on this forum it seems most of the discussions on things like this died out by 2014 with most of the threads being left kind of open.....like lots of talk about what someone was going to try then just.................
So I hoped that maybe that meant that now ppl have things figured out and there wasn't really any reason left to talk about it. lol.

Thanks for your reply though! I'll either keep digging or just buy some sets and know that I'll have a bunch of unused-unneeded jets. Either way it'll all work out.
