also melted because its probably just that one ground (dan max harness?)
and not grounding well through the frame

install a dedicated ground 14 gauge or larger from the engine all the way to the battery to prevent that wire from melting anymore

also could be the cdi as that controls the spark
its common for brand new parts to die right away, could be that

you can either slowly replace one part at a time
or get the gy6 service manual and test the cdi, stator things like that to see if they are in spec

I think this is the one

ok if use a test light from battery negative to cdi power then touch the bike it shocks me is that normal or is it due to having bad ground

This is because the large black cable wasn't connected properly between the frame and engine. Be sure there is no paint under either connecting end.

Also, even though your harness is used you're harness is still covered under the 20k mile warranty so be sure not to open it up or modify the wires/cables. If you haven't solved the spark problem already, PM me directly for support.

He has a BDX harness. The starter and ground cables are 4-gauge from the battery to starter, so they don't need to be upgraded.

Recently went gy6 and Im not very familiar with the motor yet. I bought the trans kit with the clutch, variator, etc etc etc... Im wondering if anyone that has this upgrade could shed some light on how everything goes together. Thanks. :headbashing:

I don't know if I need to start a new thread or post here...I see most people post their problems here so here it goes:

I have a Ruckus with a GY6 150cc engine it has a mikuni vacuum pump i am not sure on the carb. The bike takes forever to start and lately it just doesn't start. Bike would always take a bit to start but it would start then the bike was tipped over and it seemed like the carb bowl emptied and ever since then i have had problems. Sometimes it will start randomly, I cannot figure out why. I got this bike built as it sits in a trade, so I am not very familiar with this, although I am learning. I have owned motorcycles most of my life and done most of the work myself but I am just not getting this thing going.

The problem is basically it will turn over but not start. This is what I have done so far.

I cleaned carb

adjusted valves to .003 and .005 ( i tried .003 on both etc .004 and so on) I did this on TDC and read somewhere I should do it when spring is depressed and do each side separately will try tomorrow morning.

checked and opened and cleaned fuel pump
primed carb bowl and fuel pump
checked for spark i am getting good spark
have good compression
checked ignition coil and reversed it
turned fuel screw 2 1/2 turns out

I really do not want to take this to a shop because the Chinese mechanics see the ruckus and automatically bump all their prices here. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you. :headbashing:

Ive searched around for the past two days and have an idea of what my issue is, but not 100% sure. Wanted to get your guys input based off my symptoms...

...gy6 150cc ruckus, 11 pole, stock headlights, dan max harness. Rode it 47miles, halfway through my lights started dimming and eventually lost all lights. bike still ran fine, but all lights were gone. Every now and then they would flicker on and then turn off. Bike then ran out of gas (have a wired in gas meter, no power, not sure how much gas i have) got it home, put 93octane in it and tried to kick start. nothin, hooked up multimeter to battery, showed 0 volts, dead as a door nail. checked spark, not getting spark now. Question is....

What is the reasoning behind the lights dimming and eventually losing all power over the longer ride?

and, how am i not able to kick start the bike now that i put gas in it? i read somewhere that it has to have some sort of voltage to even kick start it...is this true?

im going to get a new battery and test other wires once its running, just dont want this to keep happening, eating batteries, and leave me stranded. any input is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Nope, do you need a flywheel for you GY? I think I have a few extra in the workshop.

Hey guys,

Just a bit of help with carb tuning.

I've got a brand new GY6, and I'm using a PE24 carb, fuel pump fed.

I had the stock jets in there (115/52) and the bike would run, it smelled extremly rich, and the plug was all black.

I replaced the jets with 110/40 and now it will start and it kind of dies out, did I go too lean in my Jet selection or do I need to play around with the idle screw/air screw?

My stock gy runs anywhere from 40/110 through up to 46/115 conditions pending.
You are in the ballpark. It should run ok. Try riding it and then check ur plug.. Gy6 can be cold blooded... Try numbing ur idle speed up some, see if that helps.

Im wondering if ive gone to far down.

Tired a 38 and a 40. It barely starts, only when i have the choke lever up does it start and run. once i flick the lever back down it putters out and stops.

I slowly took the air screw put from 1.5 turns to 3 and couldnt get it consistently running before the battery died. The idle lnob was all the way in to about half way out.

Am i tuning in the wrong direction?

Try 45. Bet it helps out. The 52 was waay big, but the 38 is prob waay small
