hey BSR

you should edit your tail light wiring part
for LED tail lights, people should run off DC and not AC

i burned mine out that way, and it looks like we may have another victim, el ruckuso

OK, if you have LED taillights, just run them DC instead of AC. yellow stator wire goes to headlight, stator, and autochoke, and taillight goes to switched DC.

ya, its a pic of a stator connector and a rectifier. I'll see if I have a scoot anywhere around that has a similar setup to upload another pic of, I didn't host the pics since I didn't have a camera at the time..

I need a little bit of clarification on a couple wires to help me finalize my wiring setup. I need a better understanding of the functions of the Black/White CDI wire and the RED Rectifier wire.

1. Does the Black/White CDI wire just control ground state? (In other words does it tell the CDI it is grounded or ungrounded to kill the motor?)
2. Is the Red Rectifier wire 12v DC lead? And does it go to direct or switched 12v DC? (In other words should the Red rectifier wire be connected to 12vDC power only when the ignition is on when other accessories like horn and speedo light are on or should it bypass the ignition and be connected directly to the 12v battery power at all times?)

Please help!! Thanks!!

Here is the wiring for a 5 wire rectifier. I bought mine from KS Power and got these details from Nick.

Left to right...
Black - 12VDC Monitoring wire (Connect to 12VDC feed to brake light or headlight)
Red - Battery (DC charging system wire)
Yellow - Stator (AC charging system wire)
Green - Ground
Pink - Stator (AC charging system wire, typically white on the stator)
Image

* Monitoring wire checks the 12VDC system and raises or lowers 12V output based on the needs of your system so your battery doesnt overcharge or undercharge. This wire does not need to be hooked up but is recommended.

Red wire goes directly to a constant 12v to charge the battery

thanks for this awesome write up bluesmoke!

I got everything up and running, been riding for a week or two, but my led brake light just burnt up. :pissed: it's an r1 light so the turn sigs and running lights are all part of it, but they all work fine... not sure what caused this, as everything is running off of the red DC wire from the rectifier. :ucrazy:

Is it possible to re-upload the images? Kinda sucks that there arent any pictures for reference. good job on the Write up would be perfect if the images were still there.

I'm in the process of running the wires through my rear frame, and am trying to eliminate some wires up front.....
There are green wires and orange wires coming out of the batt box that go from ONE wire to about 3 wires and run back to the taillights. Honda has a crazy-assed gold crimp connector making the connection?
Can't I just solder all three wires up in the box, and run ONE green and ONE orange back to the taillight? (i am using an R1 type LED light)
Thanks to all that can help!!!
