Post subject: New J.Costa variator from Corsport PRE-ORDER (dyno graph)
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2012 1:34 pm
Corsport has been working with J'costa in Spain to bring a new variator to the US Ruckus market. We've had great results with the J'costa on our PCX so we thought it was time to create one for the GET engine. This is a PRE-ORDER, after the first 10 have been sold the price will go up. J'costa variators work a little different than the typical variator. They use gliders shaped almost like bullets that glide at more of an angle than the others. They weigh more than other models as well but from what we've seen they bring the RPM down as well as increase top speed. As with any other after market part, you will need to tune to make the absolute best results so we will be offering different glider weights as well after the first batch has been brought in and sold.

Corsport has exclusive rights for importing this part into the US. After the first order we will also consider doing wholesale for other retail shops.

Please feel free to post any questions or comments in this thread.

We've tested one on a few different set-ups. All with different phases of intake/exhaust/clutch/etc... so the gains have been all over the place. The best results I got so far were on a near stock new 2012. With only an intake and exhaust (K&N filters and SS yosh) and I was able to bury the speedo further than I ever have on a 50 with a slight hill. And never felt like I was near the rev limiter. But thats just one set-up. I think if some one went to the extent to dial in every other part of the bike, we could see new top speeds from 50s. Please keep in mind, that is not a guarantee by any stretch of the imagination.

Also, 3 have been sold. Once we reach 10 the pre-order comes down and they will be a little more expensive. 7 left! :highfive:

Interested

But would like to know the differences. I went to your site and tried to read the description, but it did not translate well. Would it be possible to re-translate it or just give us a description in your own words....?

I can try... What did you want clarification on? It works in a similar way as other varitors but uses a unique design. When I say unique design, it uses gliders that move in a different way than rollers or sliders. Most of the variator itself is solid and much heavier. With out putting your head inside the belt as its running its hard to see the difference but it is quite a bit different.

Imagine the round spots you see in the picture as the tips of bullets, they slide out an an angle from where you see them in the picture. I hope this helps...

Whats so hard to understand???
The variator is lying face down and the black dish is the back plate.
As it spins the bullets slide out and push the back plate away.
Done.

This is the exact same setup on a Big Ruckus JCosta and works the exact same way..
I've seen the difference on that scoot and like they say..they enjoyed there's for the PCX..

I can't only imagine what these will do on a free reving GET that screams RPM

OH, so as the RPMs increase the "fingers" become longer and therefore push the variator face out...?

Theres nothing actually sliding or rolling around?

Are you able to tune it at all?
