Thanks.. Lots of good info. Hard to track where I should start. SO here is my situation. I got a ruckus from a guy that as too lazy to rebuild the valve and wanted it out of his garage. Good good deal for me. Here is the list of things done to it, that may effect speed :
- Stretched / fat rear
- CDI (red) NCY
- Upgraded exhaust -SSP-G
- Replace intake K&N and other filters
- Polini variator kit
- Stock Carb jetted

I'm getting 35MP TOPs!

Reading around the forums I come to the conclusion that all the mods/changes where not done completely. start with air flow, changed the exhaust and intake but not the carb so not get any true performance increase. Upgraded CDI but not the ignition coil.

Where to go first?

1. Update Speedometer / Tach (TRAIL TECH VAPOR)
2. Upgrade Ignition coil
3. Start tuning?

Or should I go a different direction?

Do you have a tachometer? Best empirical evidence for dialing in the tune.

What year is it? How many miles on it? What weight of rollers/sliders? What belt?

Unless it's a big bore or a 150, I would never put a fatty on the back. If our goal is speed, why would we add additional mass to fight ?
This is a sticky, right ?
Should be discussing this in a different thread.

Looking at digital Tach/Speedometers now. Not sure on which to get Vapor II
year 2006, 3600miles,
5.6 rollers
Powerlink PL30509 belt

TTO makes a simple $40 tach that I use just for tuning... I don't rig it to bike permanently. https://www.amazon.com/Trail-Tech-742-A ... tachometer

I'm using that until I upgrade to a vapor. I use my phone as a speedometer with a RAM mount. Phone has an added bonus as a GPS map.

edit: the reason I use this instead of a cheaper tach is because this one runs on batteries so you don't have to take off the box and hook it up to the scoot battery. You just wrap it around the ignition coil, get your idle readings, zip it to the bars so you can see it, go for a ride, then do the reverse and put it in the toolbox.
