Nope, that was a scraping noise. Got that sorted out before swapping cases when I had it apart the first time.

The heaviest ratio that i've tried is combination between :

FG, Met gear, 45T
CS, Ruck gear, 12T
CG, Kitaco gear, 41T
DS, Kitaco gear, 13T

Where :

Stock gear ratio : 13,71
Stock + met gear (FG) : 13,13
Stock + met gears (FG CS) : 12,12 (w/o CS washer)
Kitaco (DS CG) + stock gears (FG CS) : 12,35
Kitaco (DS CG) + stock CS + met gear FG : 11,83

All work good, wanna try? :D

Or, Kitaco DS + modified/welded Kitaco CG with Met CS + met FG : 10,92 (w/o CS washer)
This will be the heaviest gear ratio ???? this should be the next experiment ??? 20,36% heavier than stock ratio.

Not really having any luck in the Newb Post Here thread..

So, I want to change my final drive. All I want is to bring the revs down while I'm cruising, but I want the "potential" to keep all the top end, which would be limited by power with the change of the final drive. The Kitaco's I'm looking at from mx-performance claim a final drive change to 3.15 for the hau Ruck. Can I use this is my '09 Met? I've read this thread, but I'll reread it in the meantime. Help would be appreciated beyond belief. I've read so many contradictory things my eyes are going to bleed and my brain is nearing an aneurysm. I don't need to accelerate quickly or have any desire to bounce off the rev limiter. I'm trying to stay away from that bugger!

Kitaco is shorter than the met gear
Basically it's in between the ruck and met gear if I remember correctly

Thanks. So this advertised ratio is incorrect, correct? http://www.mx-performance.com/id82.html

Lokis_Tyro, what rpm's are you currently running? I would bet they are lower than you realize if you have no tach. Depending on whether it is a Met or Met II, if your not hitting the rev limiter (and since it is 100% stock I'm fairly sure you aren't), I don't see much if any sense in dropping the rpm's while cruising, or otherwise. If it is to increase engine life don't bother. The stock GET with stock rev limit and CVT parts will go 25K + miles with no issues. My Met II had 25K when I bought it and added another 10K before developing a leak at oil seal behind flywheel/stator. They are practically bulletproof stock compared to most Chinese scooters.

For what it is worth, you will never ever be able to increase top mph and drop revs with stock motor. You might can drop revs with gear changing but won't have the umph to push rpm's to the necessary heights to increase top mph. The GET comes alive past the stock rev limit. 8,000 -10,000 rpm is where it really shines.

never messed with a ruckus gear box
but I am told it is the same as a metropolitan?
so if there the same here you go

so here is what was out there
you can put stock metro secondary gears in a ruckus
(Primary: 12x42 secondary 12/47 ruckus) = 13.70 ? ratio 130 -90 10 tire
(Primary: 12x42 secondary13/45 metro) =12.12 ratio 90-90 10 tire
(Primary: 12x42 secondary13/45 af16 elite) =12.12 ratio 3.0 10 tire

kitaco KTC-305-1125210 primary gears ( I think 13-41) final ratio 10.90 ?
Ratio change:12x42= N3.500 (Stock) > 13-41=H3.150 (KITACO)

messing around with parts I have
this setup is currently being used in my 2009 metropolitan
with 9.1:1 = 16x42 Secondary gears

so here a new solution for gearing ?
Honda af16 motor 1994-2001 sa50 Elite. or af18 Honda dio
and dio zx af18 or kymco zx50 super fever rear pulley and clutch & bell assembly
primary gears input 12t
tooth count same 12t
overall length same
dio undercut at gear end
spline end step different ( where the zx pulley clutch comes in)
Image
primary gears input 42t
tooth count same 42t
thickness different but the secondary gear makes up for it
Image
secondary shaft
Image
clutch pulley assembly I used kymco zx50
Image

so you can fit all the af16 elite gears in a GET metropolitan gearbox
than you can utilize all the secondary gearing available for the elite af16

some of the aftermarket af16 gears aviable
Aftermarket Secondary(final) gears:
9.8:1 = 15x42
9.1:1 = 16x42
8.4:1 = 17x41
7.5:1 = 18x39

Decided to check if the set of 86 Aero NB50 gears would fit into a Met case I had laying around. Used the Aero driveshaft and small gear (34T/12T) set plus the ruckus large gear(47T). It fit perfect. The ratio on this is 10.2 vs. 13.7 ruck. Major increase! I don't think my BBB can push these gears but I'll try it! Anyone got a spare ruck swingarm laying around (I don't want to mess with mine.) Anybody do this gear swap yet?

I have not. My Met is apart as I try to fit a fatty on a no-stretch.

I may try it on my back-up Met with stock swing arm once the weather in Pittsburgh breaks................
