Yeah, body weight is the biggest factor when running those gears but they are the secret to unlocking big mph from these engines

I always felt as though the gearing would be too much until I saw and rode some GETs with head work running fantastic with the full set

which one can i switch instead of doing the whole set? i might try that also while I'm in there. is it the long one, the wide one, or the short stubby one :wasted:

i'd imagine the long one

Start with just the final, the one that exits the tranny and the wheel bolts too

The other two are the little nugget one and the ring that goes on it

The Nugget gear is called the counter shaft and gear I believe.

so i swapped out the met final gear. replace tranny fluid and used the same thrust washers that came with the respective gears, and i was getting a high pitched whine on decel. i think there may be a noise on acceleration as well but it's hard to hear w/ the MNNTHBX exhaust. if it's there, it's definitely not as loud.

top end was about the same but i definitely lost some acceleration. i have a white and blue contra spring on the way but i don't think that's my issue for the time being.

obviously, i was bummed with these results and tried to go back to all ruckus gears today...it's still whining. i roughed up/slotted the clutch pads and the bell, to no avail.

thoughts on what this noise could be? it sounds like it's coming from the clutch or gearbox.

^X2. Shame on me for never posting that I discovered the same thing AFTER experiencing problems similar to yours. I think it may have caused excess vibration and an eventual cooked main bearing.

I have my met final gear and no whine or noise. There is a Noticable play now but not that much.

As for loss in accel, Thats a given being that your going to a taller gear. This can be corrected with more cvt tuning. Should give you about 2-3mph at the same rpm as before.

I found the best combo is supa light weights and heavy contra. And Since I run a polini var its already geared for top end so I found that 4.7g sliders and a 1500rpm contra worked best for me.

Also one thing that helps a ton is a properly shaved Driveface. and by proper I mean the actual face, not the nipple that comes into contact with the boss and a thin belt. Gates worked best for me. I wanna try a daytona eventually. I know that one is thinner than gates.

Ya. Just old. I'm gonna tear apart the one that was yelling and see if I can get that one functional again.

I had a horrible noise come out of mine when I went full MET, turns out it was just a bearing. Took the set out of my original swingarm and noise disappeared.

The whine is coming from the bearings in the transmission case. I changed out to full met gears after I heard it, and still had the whine, so I swapped on a fresh case with bearings, and new main bearing, and it went away.
