2004 Honda Ruckus/Zoomer

PostPosted: Sun Jun 24, 2007 7:50 pm    Post subject: Just bought a Ruckus

I got a VERY used 2004 Ruckus. I will be fixing it up slowly as I figure out what's up. It looks like the previous owner used it in a Dakar Rally. There were sticks and crap in everywhere, the floorboard is cracked, one of the mirrors was missing, the grips are torn, the muffler cover is cracked, the front fender has a crease in it, etc. It runs fine though and the local Honda dealer just adjusted the valves and gave the engine a look see. I spent today painting it flat black to match my Element. Which we crammed the Ruckus into to get it home.

Before:

After:

I already ordered my first mod. 49 RR stickers lol. The guys in the pits should find that amusing. Cool

Added: Rim Stripes, what a pain. I used standard pinstriping and took my time. Then I found precut curved ones on ebay later doh. 49RR sticker. Harris RR Grips. I will be stenciling on Domo-kun this weekend because he's hardcore and matches my bike color scheme.

It's amazing how many people on here are Domokun fans Cool I've had an idea for sometime about how to incorporate the character onto our Rucks. Tokyo Parts sells the wheel striping too, and they also have a metallic version too.

Back on topic, the pin stripes really stand out on your ride and I see you ditched the camo real quick.

Yeah, I am a fan of the black on black.

I like the flat black better than my gloss black though.

Looking good man and Welcome!

I will post some better photos this weekend. All the photos have been from my point and shoot so far because it's easier to ... point... and.... shoot than drag out the good camera.

I also plan on making a carbon fiber floor to replace the busted plastic one. New plastic ones are $90!? Crazy! I can get 20 sq ft of carbon fiber fabic of ebay for like $20-$30. Also will be fabricating a tail rack to hold my camera gear.

no good pics yet. Today's buildup took longer than expected. Went and got some folding footpegs. I also wanted a cargo rack for the floor area. I wasn't too impressed when I found out they cost a cool $175 + shipping. That is not $175 worth of bent metal. I dremeled off the engine cover and got to thinking about how to make a floor. I went to a hardware store. $22 later I have the beginnings of a cargo floor. I plan on making a hard floor, either out of aluminum sheeting or carbon fiber or maybe a cargo net of some sort. I lined it up with the factory tubing so it shouldn't look too bad once I have it painted to match.

49 RR hahahaha that cracks me up

making a friggin mess

footpegs, they werk good. I want to lean and drag my knee thru turns now.

notice how the tubing lines up with the frame tubing. Once it's painted I hope it looks less gay.

About 20-30 pounds of photo gear. I got this thing to haul gear out on track, not to win beauty contests lol.

I need to carry this backpack plus a monopod, water, etc.

Here's what I use it for:

Nice work, just paint the tubes black and make sure you can take em off when not needed Wink

I think you should paint your radiator res. black too. I did mine and don't even notice it anymore unless i want too admire it. Very Happy
Just tape a "window" on the front and back (to let light in for checking you level)

I like the bike man. Keep us posted. Exclamation
