So I took a day off from trying to make my other Ruck work, and went to The Helmet Shop in Daytona Beach!
The place was really great, and their prices are very competitive. They even have free shipping (incase you guys need anything), and their people were really cool and helpful.
I went in there looking into open face helmets, but as they pointed out, they were old man helmets (I was hoping more Speed Racer), and I just wasn't feeling them. I spent a few hours in there and tried on next to everything. I wasn't figuring on spending this much, but I fell in love with the RKT-101 Joe Rocket helmet. It was the last one, so I got it for $200 even.
I wore it around all day - while playing video games, etc. Seems pretty comfortable. Heck, I even wore it around on the Ruckus a little bit!
I also ordered a nice Joe Rocket jacket, but I can't seem to find it on their site. It was an awesome mesh jacket with removable interior for only $120.

Where's the rocket? I'm sitting on it! Oh, and there's a little rocket on the forehead too.
I'll have to pick up some gloves before it gets too cold too. Probably these:

You're worrying about the cold already? I'm in NY, and I'm not gonna start thinking about the cold until body parts start getting numb. You're in Florida, you don't know what cold is!

Ha, it's less of worrying about the cold and more of getting excited to get matching gear!
BTW, I'm wearing my helmet now. I'm such a dork!

Joe rocket makes nice stuff for the price.
I like their summer gear mostly.
Never seen one of thier lids though.

 ummm, wait, what? Don't you live in Florida?? It gets cold there? Like the mid 60's for maybe, I dunno, 2 months out of the year? Southerners have no idea what the meaning of "cold" is.
Gloves are a good idea. It sucks to have skinned up hands. Your hands will most likely be your first contact point with the ground in the event of a fall.

Yeah, I wear gloves every time I ride. You're hands will almost always hit first at the speeds we travel at, people instinctively put their hands out to protect them from the fall.
The helmet looks nice. Just FYI, a full face helmet is always your best bet. There is a high percentage of crashes where much of the impact force is directed at the chin/face area.
Enjoy riding more safely man.

Yeah, I think I'll use that as an excuse to cruise up to Daytona this weekend on the Ruck.
Hopefully my other Ruck will be up to speed by then so I won't have to cruise alone. It sure is nice having two, but it would be really nice if there were more Rucksters in the neighborhood! |

You should cover the top of the "O" in "ROCKET" with red tape to make it say "RUCKET"
