When they first told me about it they emphasized that it was a Chinese Monkey engine, so i took that to mean it's a replica of the Honda one. but that's just an assumption...

125cc with gearbox..that should be quick enough notice how he didn't even rev the bike that much and its already going! But according to tomtom, I guess that is indeed a chinese replica. _________________ ***See my Ruck HERE***

No doubt that thing is fast, it'll probably top out around 60+ depending on gearing. It looks like the donor bike was probably a lifan z50 or simular monkey bike clone punched out to 125cc.
Kinda like this one:
Man that thing would be soo much fun.
Can you say wheelie on demand? |

I think it's interesting that they used a Chinese produced knock off. I thought that the Japanese guys were very much against the knock offs' due to national pride & what not. Dope bike none the less. _________________ New DubStep Mix:

Lol same here. But to my surprise, Sekizawa san seemed interested in the chinese Gy6 swap. We spent almost an hour the other day looking at upgrades for the gy6 engines and he seemed pretty impressed with the 190cc big bore. Who knows lol...... I guess as long as it is in the right hands anything works! _________________ ***See my Ruck HERE***

i don't think the Japanese guys have any special prejudice about Chinese parts, though they do advise me against buying them sometimes if there's a better Japanese alternative. As for the engines, i think they won't be happy til they've built a zoomer with every engine available. originality is the most important thing to them. _________________

Wondering the same thing myself. That thing is SICK!
So being new to this whole scene and all (don't actually own one myself yet but getting VERY interested), how much would one be spending on all the upgrades and stuff for a bike like this coming from a stock ruckus?
I'm sure the cost is on up there, but curious nonetheless.
Thanx. And 60+mph would be awesome! |

well you can pick up a new 125-140cc lifan engine with wiring and lighting for around $400 on ebay.
Then you gotta figure out a swingarm/shock/brake setup to use. Probably another $500-1000 depending on what you use.
Whats gonna cost you money is the fab work/installation of it all.
Unless, of course your handy with a torch and electrical wiring.
Really depends on how far down the rabbit hole you wanna go.
Honestly, if your gonna have to pay someone to do it for you, your better off just getting another bike. Although, it would be one of the baddest rucks around. |
